The speaker at the event was Mr. Ashneer Grover and the event was coordinated by Dr. Jeetendra Rai along with faculty and staff of SRGI, Jhansi.
The event was exhilarating and it summarised as follows
Sessions on innovation and prototype validation teach students that a great idea is only the beginning of a startup journey. The most crucial lesson is to shift their mindset from being an inventor to an entrepreneur, recognizing that the innovation itself is not the business. Students learn that before they can even think about building a company, they must achieve "value proposition fit." This means rigorously validating that their product or service actually solves a significant and widespread problem for a specific group of customers. They are taught to use techniques like customer discovery and prototyping, not as a means to build a final product, but as a way to test their assumptions and gather real-world feedback.
The session also emphasizes that achieving "business fit" is the next step and a separate challenge. A product can have a perfect value proposition fit but fail if the business model is not viable. Students learned to think about the entire business ecosystem: how to acquire customers, how to generate revenue, and how to operate profitably. They are encouraged to look beyond the initial product and consider innovative business models, much like Ashneer Grover did with BharatPe. Grover's innovation wasn't just the QR code, which he gave away for free, but the business model that leveraged a massive user base to offer high-margin financial services, thus converting a free-to-use product into a highly profitable enterprise. This teaches students that a startup's success is not just about the "what" (the innovation) but the "how" (the business model).
