On 17th March 2015, our Space International School celebrated Grandparents Day. It was a special day for all those who attended the programme as it gave us a chance to interact with an age group that is most often, overlooked.
As part of our SIS project this year, we invited the grandparents of our Pre-K and K1 students, to celebrate the presence of our grandparents, in our lives.
The function started at 8:00 am with sports activity where students showed their dribbling skills, hopping, jumping and zig zag skills. This was followed by the welcoming done by the students with tilak, bouquet and garland. Students bought their grandparents to the classroom, we all worshipped god through shlokas and meditation.
At 9:30 am Grandparents were taken for refreshment, children sat with their grandparents and had nasta together, thereby the session followed with the video of students activities held in the class.
Grandparents returned to the class where Grandmothers told short stories. We all enjoyed listening to them. Later students showed their work and made grandparents colour the stencil .Students were very happy looking at their grandparents coloring the stencil. They tied friendship belt and took photos.
The curtains came down on the Grandparents Day celebrations where students greeted them with thank you card and a paper bag.
Everyone seemed truly happy. It was a very successful event, indeed, and we look forward to many more.

Students of SIS K-1visited various places in Junagadh- Sakarbaug Zoo, Science city, Indira Gandhi Park, Fire station and Gayatri temple on 27th Jan 2015 –a day trip.
