In protest against the r**e and brutal murder of a minor girl in Baruipur, the West Bengal chapter of SIO has called for statewide demonstrations. As part of the organization's initiative, State Executive Committee Member S.M. Faiyad and Asif Jamir, President of SIO South 24 Parganas, met with the victim's family to express their solidarity.
As part of the statewide protest campaign, a protest meeting was held at Hatuganj Bus Stand, organized by the Diamond Harbour Block unit of South 24 Parganas district. Addressing the gathering, Sk Imran Hossain, State President of SIO West Bengal, demanded the harshest punishment, including the death penalty, for the perpetrators of the crime. In Satulia, Bhangar, another protest meeting was attended by Abdul Wakil, State General Secretary of SIO West Bengal. Similar street-corner meetings demanding strict punishment for the accused were also organized at Raghunathganj, Suti, and Basudebpur in North Murshidabad district.
