A one-day workshop on "𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬" was successfully conducted on 𝟐𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 at 𝐉. 𝐇. 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The workshop began with the Principal Mrs. Lata Sharat and the Vice Principal Mrs. Rukshana H. Gardin welcoming the enthusiastic participation . Fifteen schools across the town, with teachers representing each school, making it a gathering of 31 educators committed to strengthening early childhood education practices.
The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Fiona Passagne, the Nursery and Kg Coordinator at J.H Tarapore and an experienced educator who had undergone the 5 days training under the CISCE Council in the field of foundational learning. Through a series of engaging and interactive sessions, she highlighted the significance of developmentally appropriate practices in the early years and encouraged teachers to create joyful, meaningful learning experiences for young children.
The workshop covered four major themes:
Development of Play
The session focused on the stages and importance of play in a child's overall development. Participants gained insights into how play nurtures cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical growth. Various play-based activities suitable for young learners were demonstrated and discussed.
The Magical World of Story Telling
Teachers explored the art of storytelling as a powerful tool for language development, imagination, and value education. Practical techniques such as voice modulation, facial expressions, puppetry, and interactive storytelling were shared to make stories more engaging and memorable for children.
Hands-on Teaching Aids
This session showcased a variety of low-cost and innovative teaching-learning materials that can be created using readily available resources. Participants actively engaged in preparing and experimenting with teaching aids designed to enhance classroom learning through hands-on experiences.
AI Tools in Education
The workshop introduced educators to emerging Artificial Intelligence tools and their potential applications in creating story books and songs. The session emphasized the responsible and effective use of technology to support teaching and learning.
Throughout the day, participants actively participated in discussions, group activities, demonstrations, and practical exercises. The interactive nature of the workshop provided opportunities for teachers to exchange ideas, reflect on their classroom practices, and learn from one another.
The workshop concluded with a feedback session, during which participants expressed their appreciation for the practical and relevant content presented. They found the sessions informative, inspiring, and directly applicable to their classrooms. The programme proved to be a valuable professional development opportunity, equipping educators with innovative strategies to enrich the foundational years of learning.
