On 20th June 2025, the Department of Swasthavritta, Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, (INI), Jamnagar, conducted a Workshop on Yogic Management of Geriatric Disorders as a part of the week-long Yoga Fest 2025, commemorating a decade of the International Day of Yoga.

The session was led by Vd. Shalinee Kumari Mishra, Associate Professor, Department of Swasthavritta, ITRA, (INI), Jamnagar. In her talk, Vd. Mishra delivered an insightful lecture addressing the multifaceted health concerns commonly faced during old age and emphasized the preventive and promotive potential of Yoga in geriatric care. She explained how yogic practices, when adapted appropriately can support joint health, cardiovascular function, respiratory efficiency, cognitive clarity, and emotional balance in the elderly.

Following the lecture, a practical yoga session was demonstrated by Ms. Deepa Rathore, Yoga Expert, Department of Swasthavritta, ITRA (INI), Jamnagar under her guidance. The session included asanas, pranayama, and meditative practices tailored specifically to the needs of the geriatric population. Throughout the session, volunteers from among the participants actively engaged in performing the practices, which added an interactive and experiential dimension to the workshop. These volunteers also shared their relevant feedback after each segment, reflecting on the effectiveness, comfort, and perceived benefits of the techniques demonstrated.

The workshop was anchored gracefully by Vd. Richa Jangpangi, MD Scholar, Department of Swasthavritta, who ensured smooth ex*****on and a well-coordinated flow throughout the session. The session witnessed an impressive footfall of 256 participants, including Ph.D., P.G. scholars along with E.D.Y.T. and U.G. students and members of the public, all of whom actively engaged with the content and appreciated its relevance making the final day of Workshop on Yogic Management a huge success.

On 19th June 2025, the Department of Swasthavritta, Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, (INI), Jamnagar, organized a Workshop on “Yogic Management of Adolescent Health” as part of Yoga Fest 2025, held to commemorate a decade of the International Day of Yoga under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Vd. Arpan Bhatt, HoD, Swasthavritta, ITRA, Jamnagar.

The session featured a thought-provoking guest lecture by Dr. Meena Ramanathan, Principal, School of Yoga Therapy, ISCM, Pondicherry. Dr. Meena highlighted adolescence as a translational stage marked by physical, emotional, and psychological changes. She emphasized the role of Yoga as a holistic solution for managing the challenges of this sensitive period. Her talk elaborated on the individual benefits of Yoga for adolescents, supported by references to notable research publications, which added scientific depth to the presentation.

The lecture was followed by an engaging yoga demonstration session, which began with fun-filled loosening practices to energize and connect with the young audience. This was followed by a structured sequence of asanas, pranayama, dharana, and dhyana.

The practical session was demonstrated by Ms. Deepa Rathore, Yoga Expert, Department of Swasthavritta, ITRA (INI), Jamnagar, along with Vd. Kinjal Thaker, EDYT student, ITRA who illustrated each step with clarity and grace under expert supervision. Their synchronized delivery made the session lively, practical, and relatable for participants. At the end of the session, honourable Director, Prof. Vd. Tanuja Nesari facilitate Dr. Meena with bouquet and appreciated her thoughtful session for Adolescents.

The entire session was anchored smoothly by Vd. Pratibha Tripathi, Ph.D. Scholar, Department of Swasthavritta. The event witnessed a footfall of 315 participants.

On 18th June 2025, the Department of Swasthavritta, Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (INI), Jamnagar, organized a Workshop on “Yogic Management of Female Health Disorders” as part of Yoga Fest 2025, to commemorate a decade of the International Day of Yoga.

The session began with a guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Shilpa Donga, HoD, Department of Prasuti Ta**ra and Stri Roga, ITRA, (INI), Jamnagar. She provided a comprehensive overview of the current health scenarios concerning women, shedding light on the increasing prevalence of menstrual irregularities, pregnancy-related complications, and menopausal issues.

Following the lecture, Vd. Gauravi Vyas, Assistant Professor (Yoga), Department of Swasthavritta, ITRA, (INI), Jamnagar, conducted a yoga demonstration session focused on practices designed specifically for women. She highlighted asanas and pranayama beneficial in managing menstrual disorders, supporting prenatal health, and easing the transition through Menopause.

The demonstration of the practices was performed by EDYT student Vd. Aastha Jain, who showcased each posture and technique under the expert guidance of Vd. Gauravi Vyas, allowing attendees to visually grasp the application and flow of the yogic protocol. The whole session was anchored seamlessly by Vd. Pratibha Tripathi, Ph.D. Scholar, Department of Swasthavritta.

The session witnessed an overwhelming response with a footfall of 248 participants.

On 17th June 2025, the Department of Swasthavritta, Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (INI), Jamnagar, organized a Workshop on Yogic Management of Obesity as part of the Yoga Fest 2025, which was held from 15th to 21st June 2025 to commemorate a decade of the International Day of Yoga.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Vd. Tanuja Nesari, Honourable Director, ITRA, and Shri P. K. Pathak, Principal Consultant, ITRA, who appreciated the thoughtful organization of the workshop and highlighted the importance of integrating traditional yogic wisdom into contemporary lifestyle disease management. Their encouraging words greatly motivated the participants and faculty alike. Prof. Vd. Arpan Bhatt introduced the dignitaries with great reverence and warmly welcomed them by flower, Shawl and memento.

The session was conducted by Shri V.M. Janakiraman, Director of Yoga Therapy at Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM), Chennai, a leading authority in individualized yoga therapy. He delivered an enriching lecture in which he emphasized the relevance of the Ashtanga Yoga system (Eight Limbs of Yoga) in the holistic management of obesity. He also elaborated on the general therapeutic principles followed in the KYM tradition, known for its person-specific (one to one) approach.

A key highlight of his session was the differentiation of yogic management strategies for central (apple-shaped) and pear-shaped obesity, explaining how body type influences therapeutic choices in Yogic practice. This reflected the individualized method central to the Krishnamacharya lineage.

Following the lecture, a practical session was conducted, wherein an EDYT scholar performed Yoga practices under the direct guidance of Sri Janakiraman. The session was further enriched by the participation of a volunteer patient, enabling participants to observe real-time application of the therapeutic protocol. The session was smoothly coordinated and anchored by Vd. Pratibha Tripathi, Ph.D. Scholar, Department of Swasthavritta.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 325 attendees, including students, scholars, trainees, and health enthusiasts.
