Have you ever think on a small vegetable garden at your home? Well! Farming is not just for rural areas. It is possible in cities too. It can be achieved by making some arrangements on your Terrace, roof, balcony or somewhere else for planting vegetables and growing it for your own use or selling. This is not a new idea, but the situation now is very demanding. As the change of climate like increasing temperature, mismatch of seasonal raining, hardly helps the crops, made difficult for farmers to grow vegetables. Recently we talked about how we can grow plants in small container or pots. Today we gonna discuss about the KITCHEN GARDEN, a well known word.In its simplest form, a kitchen garden produces fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs for delicious, healthy meals. And the only reason we dont wanna think about it as it sounds a hectic or a tedious job. But frankly saying, its not let me explain you how we can grow all our vegetables at our house.
A three way guide that will let you grow all your vegetables at your place.
1. The Right Spot : SUNNY SPOT
The best location for a new garden is one receiving full sun (at least six hours of direct sunlight per day), and one where the soil drains well. After you do the garden math, it comes out to 300 square feet per person. THATS IT. It will serve the purpose and you dont need to buy any vegetable from the market.
2. Preparing The Soil : OLD COW DUNG
If you’re looking to start a small or medium-sized garden, it’s possible to cut and remove sod in neat strips using nothing more than a sharp spade and some back muscle. To maintain the soil nutrition you should lay a minimum layer of 1ft cow dung.
3. Choosing Garden Crops: SEASONAL CROPS
The most important recommendation after “start small” is “start with what you like to eat.” One of the easiest and most rewarding kitchen gardens is a simple salad garden. Lettuces and other greens don’t require much space or maintenance, and grow quickly. And Seasonal vegetables are always good to go with as they matches with the climatic conditions.
SO JUST GO AND GRABS SOME SEEDS AND SOW THEM TO GET THE BEST OUT OF THEM.
