Ampere (A) is the SI (International System) unit of electric current. It is named after the French scientist "Andre Marie Ampere".

Current simply means the flow of electric charges (electrons) through a wire.

One ampere means "one coulomb of charge passing per second".

Without current, no electrical device or appliances will work.
