SRML Celebrates Excellence: Capt. B.K. Uppal S$1,000 Merit Awards Presented to Young Achievers
Jammu, September 17, 2026: Govt. Shri Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Parade Jammu, organised the Capt. B.K. Uppal Merit Awards at the school premises to honour and encourage students who have excelled in academics, sports and various other fields.
The programme was graced by Sh. Yudhvir Sethi-J & K, MLA Jammu East, as the Chief Guest, while the wife of Late Capt. B.K. Uppal, an alumnus of the historic SRML School, attended as the Special Guest.
The S$1,000 (Singapore Dollars) merit awards were presented to deserving students who brought laurels to the institution through outstanding achievements in NEET, IIT/JEE, Board Examinations, National-level & International- Level Sports, NCC and NSS, reflecting the diverse talents and accomplishments nurtured by the institution.
Speaking on the occasion by , Dr.Kishor Sharma Principal, Govt. Shri Ranbir Higher Secondary School, highlighted the remarkable progress of the institution and outlined various initiatives undertaken for its academic, infrastructural and overall development. He emphasized the school’s rich heritage, its contribution to society and its commitment to providing quality education while creating opportunities for students to excel in diverse disciplines.
The Chief Guest appreciated the achievements of the students and lauded the efforts of the school in promoting academic excellence, sports, discipline, leadership and social responsibility. He also appreciated the initiative of commemorating the memory of Late Capt. B.K. Uppal by recognising and encouraging deserving students.
As part of the programme, the school felicitated the distinguished guests with planters. The guests also participated in a plantation drive within the school campus, conveying a message of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
The programme concluded with appreciation for the awardees, distinguished guests, teachers and all those who contributed to making the event a meaningful celebration of merit, talent and the enduring legacy of SRML School.
The event was anchored and hosted by Mrs. Renuka Manhas, Senior Lecturer, who conducted the proceedings with grace and coordination. Mrs. Parveen Akther, Senior Lecturer, proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, awardees, parents, staff and all those associated with the programme.
Sh. Manjit Chib, Senior Lecturer, coordinated the overall arrangements, organisation and smooth conduct of the event, with the active cooperation of the school staff.
The programme concluded with appreciation for the awardees, distinguished guests, teachers and all those who contributed to making the event a meaningful celebration of merit, talent, inspiration and the enduring legacy of SRML School.

Dr. Kishor Sharma Principal, SRML HSS Parade, led the school team with his constant encouragement and support as the March Past Squad, School Band and staff proudly represented SRML HSS Parade at the Independence Day Celebrations at M.A.M. Stadium, Jammu.

And what a proud moment it turned out to be!

With these two achievements, SRML HSS Parade emerged as the only Government school to secure two positions in the competition—a truly proud moment for the entire school community.

Behind these achievements are days of discipline, practice and determination. Special appreciation to Sh. Sat Pal Singh, Physical Education Teacher, for his dedicated efforts in preparing the March Past Squad, and to Sh. Yash Pal, Band Master, for his commitment and guidance in training the school band.

🇮🇳 A Morning of Pride at SRML HSS Jammu 🇮🇳

The morning at SRML HSS Jammu unfolded in the colours of the Tricolour, with the school campus filled with a sense of pride and celebration.

As the National Flag was hoisted by our Principal, Dr.Kishor Sharma the entire school stood together in respect, marking the beginning of the Independence Day celebrations.

Soon, the sound of marching footsteps filled the air. Our March Past Squad moved forward with confidence and precision, their perfectly synchronised steps reflecting the discipline and spirit of SRML.

The beats of the school band followed, adding energy to the celebration and making the atmosphere come alive.

The celebrations also brought together our staff and students for cherished moments in front of the camera, capturing the smiles, camaraderie and spirit of the day.

In a historic milestone, Govt. Sri Ranbir Model Hr. Sec. School (SRML HSS) Jammu successfully hosted the Union Territory-level launch of the Mega Plantation Drive across Jammu and Kashmir. This event reaffirmed the school's position as a premier educational institution and leader in co-curricular excellence under the inspiring theme “One Student–One Tree.”
The prestigious occasion was graced by Hon’ble Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, who formally launched the ambitious campaign from the school premises. Prominent dignitaries, including MLAs Qaysar Jamshaid Lone, Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi, and Showkat Hussain Ganie, joined senior officials from the School Education, Social Welfare, and Health departments, as well as the Chief Education Officer Jammu. Officials and institutions from across Jammu and Kashmir participated virtually, making it a truly UT-wide initiative.
SRML HSS Jammu demonstrated exceptional organizational excellence, teamwork, and leadership by coordinating arrangements for dignitaries, teachers, students, and seamless virtual engagement. The Hon’ble Minister commended the school administration for executing this high-profile event with precision.
The drive underscored the vital role of schools in fostering environmentally responsible citizens.
The event also emphasized *social welfare and inclusivity* through the distribution of *bicycles to orphaned and single-parent girl students* by the Hon’ble Minister. *ECCE kits (“Jadu Ka Pitara”), sports kits for PM Shri Schools, and audio systems/desktops sponsored by the Bharti Airtel Foundation* were distributed to promote educational empowerment and digital learning.
Informative stalls by the *Social Welfare Department* created awareness about *afforestation, environmental protection, and biodiversity conservation*, reinforcing the core message of the drive.
The event concluded with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and stakeholders, setting a precedent for future initiatives and solidifying the school’s role as a model institution in the Union Territory.

“Dharohar” with Grandeur

Govt. Sri Ranbir Model Higher Secondary School, Jammu, an institution with a proud legacy of over 140 years, celebrated its Annual Day on 18th February with dignity and splendour.
The Annual School Magazine “Dharohar” was formally released by the Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Ms. Sakina Itoo, in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Sh. Satish Sharma, Hon’ble MLA Sh.Sajjad Shaheen, Director School Education Jammu Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, and Chief Education Officer, Jammu Sh. Ajeet Sharma.
The dignitaries commended the school for its academic excellence, rich heritage and continued contribution to shaping generations of responsible citizens. Meritorious students and achievers in sports, NCC and co curricular activities were felicitated, celebrating dedication, discipline and excellence.
In her address, Hon’ble Minister Ms. Sakina Itoo emphasized holistic education and character building, appreciating “Dharohar” as a vibrant reflection of students’ creativity and intellectual growth.

Govt. Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu celebrated the 77th Republic Day with grandeur and joy!
The celebrations began with our esteemed Principal, Dr. Kishor Kumar, unfurling the tricolor, followed by a powerful rendition of the National Anthem that united students, teachers, and staff in respect and honor.
