Jallianwala Bagh is a historic garden and memorial in Amritsar, Punjab, India, known for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre. This tragic event took place on April 13, 1919, during the festival of Baisakhi, where British troops fired on a crowd of unarmed civilians who were protesting against British policies. The incident resulted in a large number of deaths and injuries, making it a pivotal moment in India's struggle for independence. The garden now serves as a memorial to those who died and is a site of national importance.
The battle of Haldighati was fought on 18 June 1576[a] between the Mewar forces led by Maharana Pratap, and the Mughal forces led by Man Singh I of Amber. The Mughals emerged victorious after inflicting significant casualties on Mewari forces, though they failed to capture Pratap, who reluctantly retreated persuaded by his fellow commanders.
