What if you didn’t just learn history… but walked through it?

No textbook. No four walls. No memorised answers.

For Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s birth anniversary, our students stepped into the streets of Jammu to find his story for themselves.

They walked through Parade Bazaar and past Hari Talkies.
Explored Mubarak Mandi and Pacca Danga.
Stood at Amar Mahal — where Maharaja Hari Singh Ji was born.
And paid tribute at his statue by the Tawi.

But the real lesson wasn’t only about a Maharaja. It was curiosity, confidence, and the courage to tell a story in their own voices.

Because children shouldn’t only be taught about their city —they should know it.

Jammu has a story. They are learning how to tell it.

Aur is baar, Jammu ki kahani humare students ne khud dhoondi, samjhi aur apne camera ke zariye saamne rakhi. ❤️

Our Class X Senior Wing students set out to explore the history, heritage and beautiful colours of Jammu, tracing the story of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji through its old streets, historic landmarks, palaces and the Tawi.

23 September 1895 ko paida hue, aur theek 30 saal baad, usi tareekh ko Maharaja bane.

Rajyabhishek par unhone kaha tha:

“As a ruler I have no religion. All religions are mine, and my religion is justice.”

Unke daur ki kuch kahaniyan:

1930: Jammu mein primary education ko muft aur anivarya banaya gaya.
1931: Schools, colleges aur wells ko sabke liye kholne ki taraf bade kadam uthaye gaye.
Raghunath Mandir: Jaati ke aadhar par rok ka virodh hua aur unke aadesh lagu karwaye gaye.
Betiyon ki education: Alag education department aur school tak pahunchne ke liye free conveyance ki vyavastha ki gayi.
Press: 1925 mein riyasat mein ek akhbaar tha. 1949 tak 67 ho gaye.

But what makes this film special is the way our students chose to tell the story.

They took charge of the research, scripting, direction, acting, camera and editing, stepping out into Jammu to capture a piece of the place they call home.

What if history felt like a story?

On the eve of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s birth anniversary, our youngest students explored Jammu’s history through animated poetry, Dogri storytelling, cultural displays and specially curated comics.

From Maharaja Hari Singh Ji and General Zorawar Singh Ji to the traditional story of Raja Jambu Lochan, these stories brought Jammu’s heritage closer to young minds.

Nearly 80 young readers.
Stories to read, remember and carry forward.

We wish you the very best as you continue to inspire young minds and help keep Jammu’s history, culture and Dogri heritage alive through stories. We are proud to support and celebrate initiatives that bring our heritage closer to the next generation.

For the first time, Bappa came to Oriental Academy.

Our children made their own idols from eco-friendly clay, and
over the next few days those little Ganpatis became part of
everything — their prayers, their games, their mornings.

And then came the day to let him go.

For them it was more than Visarjan. They were saying goodbye
to something they had made with their own hands. There was
noise and colour and laughing — and there were a few small
faces that could not hold it together at the end. 🥹

Kehte hain, jo aata hai use jaana bhi hota hai. Par chhote dil
ke liye vida kehna itna aasaan thodi hai.

At the Junior Wing, Oriental Academy, Jammu, our little learners created their own Ganesha idols, turning a festive activity into an opportunity to learn through their hands.

As they shaped, pressed and moulded the clay, they developed fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and creativity all while experiencing our traditions in a meaningful, hands-on way. 🙏🐘

The track has more stories to tell. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Following yesterday’s U-14 achievements, today we turn to our U-17 athletes at the Jammu Zone Athletics Trials — where six Oriental Academy students earned podium positions:

🥇 Samridhi Rai, Class 11 — Shot Put, 1st
🥇 Ritish, Class 11 — 3000m, 1st
🥇 Avantika, Class 10 — 3000m, 1st
🥈 Rahul, Class 11 — 800m, 2nd
🥈 Hindraj, Class 9 — 800m, 2nd
🥉 Mridul, Class 11 — Shot Put, 3rd

Six performances. Six positions. And another step forward for our young athletes.

Proud of every student who showed up, competed and gave their best — and grateful to Coach Pratap Sir for the dedication and guidance behind these performances.

The journey continues.

Six of our young atheists are going to Zonals. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

At the Under-14 Inter-Zonal Athletics Trial in Jammu, six Oriental Academy athletes finished on the podium:

Hafeez, Class 8 — 200m, 1st
Sagar, Class 8 — High Jump, 1st
Vishesh, Class 8 — Shot Put, 2nd
Areeba, Class 9 — 600m, 2nd
Samira Anjum, Class 9 — 200m, 2nd
Mahara, Class 7B — 400m, 3rd

Each of them has earned a place at the Zonal Championship, and we couldn’t be prouder.

But this moment belongs to every student who stepped onto the track that morning. To every athlete who ran, jumped, threw, competed, encouraged one another and gave their very best — your dedication is part of this success too.

The podium may have six names, but the achievement belongs to the entire team. Every effort mattered, regardless of the outcome.

Congratulations to all . Keep showing up, keep giving your best, and keep moving forward.

Jiske paas dene ko sirf ek mutthi chawal tha, uske liye Shree Krishna khud nange pair daudte hue aaye. ❤️

A beautiful reminder that true friendship neither sees wealth nor status —it simply sees the heart. ✨

Through this presentation, our students brought this timeless story of Krishna and Sudama to life, reminding us that some bonds are measured not by what we have, but by the love and sincerity we share.
