Model Academy, one of the most prestigious schools of J&K, was founded in 1936 as the first private institution in the Jammu region by eminent educationists and visionaries Late Prof. From a very humble beginning, the school has become an educational institution par excellence under the dynamic leadership of its present chairperson Dr Renu Gupta and has completed 85 years of glorious service to society. The school is dedicated to the task of multifaceted personality development in which cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains are well catered. The school has achieved astounding success and created a niche in society by producing students who have reached the highest echelons in society. Adarsh Sen Anand, Ex-Chief Justice of India, Gen JJ Singh, Former Chief of Army Staff & Former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Admiral Arun Prakash, Former Chief of Naval Staff, Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS, PMO and other eminent scientists, engineers, doctors etc. The school has produced over 35000 alumni in the last 85 years. Model Academy is a co-educational school, with approximately 2000 students on its rolls. It is a pioneer in providing ICT based teaching and learning facilities in the UT of J&K and has seamlessly blended the benefits of traditional teaching with modern educational requirements thereby creating a sound learning environment for effective growth and development of the students. It is also the first higher secondary school in J&K State to receive the ISO 9001:2008 certification for its quality management system. and is affiliated to the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) Vide no 730068. Hindi-Urdu Language Week Celebrated with Literary Fervour

As Model Academy commemorates its remarkable 90-year journey of educational excellence and cultural enrichment, the school celebrated Hindi-Urdu Language Week from 8 to 11 September under the inspiring theme, “भाषा से भाव | Language to Emotion | ज़बान से ज़मीर तक.”
The week featured a vibrant array of activities designed to nurture linguistic expression, creativity, and literary appreciation among students. Classes I–II participated in कविता वाचन / Zabani Nazm (Poetry Recitation), while Classes III–V engaged in कहानी एवं किस्सा दिवस (Story and Anecdote Day). Classes VI–VII participated in a lively भाषा कार्निवल (Language Carnival) featuring engaging Tongue Twisters and मुहावरे (Idioms). Students of Classes VIII–X presented impactful plays on Language Unity, highlighting the power of language to foster harmony and togetherness.
Conducted under the guidance of the Hindi and Urdu subject teachers, the activities witnessed enthusiastic and confident participation, reflecting the students’ creativity, linguistic skills, and appreciation for the richness and diversity of Hindi and Urdu.
The celebration reaffirmed that language is more than a means of communication—it is a bridge connecting emotions, cultures, and hearts, a value that has remained integral to Model Academy’s 90-year legacy.

Model Academy Secures Second Runners-Up Position at Inter-School Debate

Model Academy participated in the Inter-School English Debate Competition held at Army Public School, Jammu Cantt, on 11 September 2026 under the aegis of the Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex.
Debating on the topic “Media: Informing the Public or Manipulating Perception?”, Simrah Noorain (Class X) and Sayam Sharma (Class XI) impressed the audience and judges with their confidence, clarity of expression, and persuasive arguments. Their commendable performance earned them the Second Runners-Up position.
The students were accompanied by Ms Bharti Balwal, Es**rt Teacher, whose guidance and support contributed to their successful participation.

Model Academy hosted an engaging Inter-School Hindi Debate Competition underthe aegis of the Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex on 9th September 2026. Theevent brought together young debaters from over 40 schools across Jammu, who
deliberated on the thought-provoking topic, “क्या कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता मानव कौशल काविकल्प बन सकती है?” (Kya Kritrim Buddhimatta Manav Kaushal Ka Vikalp Ban SaktiHai?). The topic encouraged students to examine the opportunities and challengesposed by Artificial Intelligence and present their perspectives with confidence, clarity
and conviction. The event was graced by Mr. Rajiv Sharma, Principal, J&k Police Public School and Vice-President, Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex, as the Chief Guest. The competition was adjudicated by Dr. Bhagwati Devi, Assistant Professor, University of Jammu, and Dr. Vandana Sharma, Assistant Professor, Central University of Jammu Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest encouraged students to nurture critical thinking, develop effective communication skills and cultivate a deeper appreciation
for the Hindi language.Adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the occasion were a soulful Dogri folk song and a graceful dance performance on the newly launched Model Academy School
Anthem, celebrating the school’s 90-year legacy, rich cultural heritage and enduring spirit.
The competition witnessed well-articulated arguments, incisive perspectives and spirited participation, reflecting the confidence, creativity and intellectual maturity of the young speakers. Army Public School, Nagrota secured both the First and Second Positions, while Tiny Scholars School bagged the Third Position. Jammu
Sanskriti School, Kathua secured two Consolation Prizes, while Sai International School won one Consolation Prize.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Swati Gupta, Convener, CCA Department, Model Academy, whose efforts contributed to the successful conduct of the competition.
The event served as a meaningful platform for students to engage with a contemporary issue, sharpen their debating skills and celebrate the richness of the Hindi language.

Model Academy Students Excel at 24th J&K UT Athletics Championship

Model Academy School students delivered an outstanding performance at the 24th J&K UT Athletics Championship, securing an impressive eight medals across various events.

The medal winners were:

🥇 Akshara Parihar – Gold in Discus Throw
🥇🥈 Yashmita Thakur – Gold in Javelin Throw and Silver in 60m Race
🥈🥉 Aradhya Kohli – Silver in Javelin Throw and Bronze in Triathlon A
🥈 Mahimaan Parihar – Silver in Discus Throw
🥉 Dayita – Bronze in Javelin Throw
🥉 Suhail – Bronze in Shot Put

A total of 11 athletes participated in the championship, with six athletes securing podium finishes, reflecting their dedication, hard work and sporting excellence.

Adding further distinction to this achievement, three Model Academy athletes—Mahimaan Parihar, Yashmita Thakur and Akshara Parihar—have been selected to represent J&K at the National Championship, scheduled to be held at Maharana Pratap
