Jammu Sahodaya Schools complex launched the Peer Educators programme for Jammu schools today. The session was attended by more than 200 participants comprised of illustrious Principals, coordinators, and the future of India, which is peer educators.
The resource persons for today's session were Dr Jitender Nagpal, Senior Psychiatrist and member working group Manodarpan (MOE) and Dr Chand Trehan Counsellor and Director CARE, North.
The objective of the programme is to provide a safe space and learning environment for young minds without fear of judgement, misunderstanding and harassment.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Nagpal said that the prog would help to increase social connectedness and create a sense of belonging within a supportive peer network. He further emphasised that pandemic has created a new canvas of thinking and hence change in mindset is important.
Dr Trehan while interacting with peer educators said one needs to introspective and have high self-esteem as a peer leader is a student who provides leadership and guidance to fellow students and hence they serve as role models.
Ms Vaishnavi Bhardwaj ex-student DPSGV and peer educator appraised the newly inducted peer educators about her experience as a peer educator and also the roles and responsibilities they need to shoulder in coming years.
Dr Pramod Kumar Srivastava Principal Model Academy and President Sahodaya School complex Jammu while moderating the session said that the programme helps students develop lifelong skills in assessing and providing feedback to others and equipped them with skills self assess and improve their own work.
Dr Kunal Anand, Principal DPS Udhampur and general secretary JSSC presented a formal vote of thanks.
