Anti-drug awareness campaign held at GHS Nagar Bhaderwah
BHADERWAH, JUNE 15: As part of the ongoing awareness initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign was organised at Government High School Nagar, Bhaderwah.
During the sessions, resource persons detailed the physical, psychological, social and economic consequences of substance addiction. They stressed the importance of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle, encouraging students to act as ambassadors of positive change within their communities. The speakers also underscored the need for a coordinated approach involving educational institutions, parents and government agencies to ensure early identification, prevention and effective access to rehabilitation services.
The programme concluded with the administration of a pledge by Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Bhaderwah, wherein all participants reaffirmed their commitment towards building a drug-free society and supporting the vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat.”
Among those present were Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Bhaderwah, alongside school faculty, students and representatives from the Health, Education, Sports and Social Welfare departments.

ADC Ramban inspects educational institutions in Pogal-Paristan, leads Nasha Mukt awareness programmes
RAMBAN, JUNE 13: Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban Varunjeet Singh Charak today visited the remote areas of Tehsil Pogal-Paristan and inspected the functioning and infrastructure of Government Higher Secondary School Pogal and Government PM Shri Higher Secondary School Maligam.
During the visit, the ADC conducted a comprehensive review of the schools' infrastructure, availability of teaching and non-teaching staff, student enrolment, academic functioning and other institutional requirements. He interacted with school authorities and staff and directed the authorities concerned to identify and communicate infrastructural and administrative requirements for timely redressal.
As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, the ADC led mega awareness programmes at both schools, addressing students, teachers and local residents. He highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse and stressed the collective responsibility of society in creating a drug-free environment. The ADC urged the youth to stay away from substance abuse and actively participate in sports, education and other constructive activities, while calling upon teachers, parents and community leaders to play a proactive role in identifying and preventing drug abuse among young people.
The programmes witnessed participation from students, staff and locals, who pledged support to the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir campaign.
Among those accompanying the ADC were Tehsildar Pogal-Paristan Nasir Javed, Tehsildar Headquarters Reejuta Mahajan and other officers concerned.

HSS Berarru Honours Class XII Achievers at Grand Felicitation Ceremony
Doda, June 13: Higher Secondary School (HSS) Berarru, Zone Bhalla, organised a grand felicitation ceremony to honour the outstanding achievers of the Class XII Board Examination, celebrating academic excellence in a dignified and inspiring atmosphere.
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Sh. Krishan Lal (JKAS), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah, Sh. Sunil Kumar Bhutyal (JKAS), Chief Education Officer Doda, Sh. Bhushan Kumar Pathak, and Tehsildar Bhalla, Sh. Mohd. Tahir (JKAS), along with other dignitaries, educationists, members of the School Management Committee, parents, staff, and students.
The programme commenced with the National Song followed by the National Anthem, setting a patriotic tone for the event. A melodious welcome song presented by the students added warmth to the occasion, while a series of vibrant cultural performances showcased the rich talent and creativity of the students, drawing appreciation from the audience.
The highlight of the event was the felicitation of Class XII toppers and meritorious students, who were honoured with certificates and mementos by the dignitaries in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements.
Earlier, Principal Sh. Anjeel Kumar Thakur and staff members extended a warm welcome to the guests. In his address, the Principal highlighted the institution’s achievements in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities, and also put forth certain genuine demands aimed at the overall development and welfare of the school.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner commended the students for their outstanding performance and appreciated the dedicated efforts of teachers and parents. He urged students to remain focused and continue striving for excellence. ADC Bhaderwah Sh. Sunil Kumar Bhutyal and CEO Doda Sh. Bhushan Kumar Pathak also emphasised the importance of discipline, quality education, and determination in achieving success.

Hands-on Training, Student Screening Conducted Under Samagra Shiksha in Doda
Doda, June 13: In a major initiative to strengthen school health programmes and ensure early detection of anaemia among students, an orientation-cum-hands-on training on the use of the EzeCheck non-invasive haemoglobin (Hb) screening device was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Jatheli and Government Higher Secondary School Jodhpur in District Doda.
The training was imparted by Mr. Krishan Kanth, an expert from EzeRX, who demonstrated the operation, initialization, and effective use of the device to designated school coordinators and staff members. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Chief Education Officer Doda, Sh. Bhushan Kumar Patthak. Mr. K. D. Shah, Auditor, Samagra Shiksha, District Doda, also accompanied the expert as part of the district-level monitoring mechanism.
During the visit, around 50 students were screened using the EzeCheck device. The exercise not only showcased the functionality of the technology but also enabled school staff to gain practical experience in conducting screenings independently.
Addressing the participants, the expert highlighted the growing concern of anaemia among school-age children and adolescents. He emphasized that anaemia often goes undetected, adversely affecting students’ physical growth, immunity, concentration, attendance, and overall academic performance. He stressed that timely identification of low haemoglobin levels can significantly improve both health and learning outcomes.
The participants were informed that EzeCheck is a non-invasive, painless, and rapid screening solution that allows preliminary haemoglobin assessment without blood collection, making it highly suitable for school-based health initiatives.
The session also included awareness on symptoms, causes, and preventive measures related to anaemia. Students and staff were advised on the importance of balanced nutrition, iron-rich diets, regular health check-ups, and adherence to supplementation programmes. It was further clarified that students suspected of anaemia during screening should be referred to the Health and Family Welfare Department, Jammu and Kashmir, for confirmation and treatment under existing schemes.
Reiterating the department’s commitment, CEO Doda stated that the effective utilization of Non-Invasive Anaemia Detection and BMI Monitoring System devices, supplied to cluster higher secondary schools during 2025–26, remains a priority. He noted that ongoing field visits and training sessions are aimed at building staff capacity and ensuring regular screening for early intervention.
The programme was widely appreciated by the school administration, staff, and students, who welcomed the initiative and the awareness generated regarding anaemia prevention and management.

ADC Bhaderwah Inspects HSS Girls Bhaderwah, Reviews Academic and Infrastructure Facilities
Doda, June 13: Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah, Sh.Sunil Kumar Bhutyal (JKAS), today conducted a comprehensive inspection of Higher Secondary School Girls Bhaderwah to assess the institution’s overall functioning and the quality of educational facilities being provided to students.
During the visit, the ADC inspected key sections of the school, including classrooms, laboratories, library, sanitation facilities, drinking water arrangements, and the overall campus environment. He also interacted with the school administration, teaching staff, and students to gather first-hand feedback on academic activities and infrastructural needs.
Reviewing student attendance, academic performance, and the implementation of curricular and co-curricular activities, ADC emphasized the need to maintain high standards of teaching and learning. Proud Moment for HSS Dradhu
Doda,June 12-HSS Dradhu has once again brought laurels to the institution through the outstanding performance of its students at the Grand Finale of the three-day Bhaderwahi cultural programme “Bhadlaha Re Funkar”, organised in collaboration with the Bhaderwah Development Authority to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Bhaderwah. Miss Sanchita Bharti secured the 3rd position, while Master Anoop Kumar achieved the 2nd position in the prestigious competition. Their performances were highly appreciated by the audience and dignitaries present on the occasion.
The Hon’ble MLA Bhaderwah, Sh. Daleep Singh Parihar, felicitated all participants with a cash prize of ₹1,000 each, thereby encouraging and recognising young talent. On this occasion, the Principal of HSS Dradhu, Sh. Rajinder Singh Bhall, was also honoured with a memento and certificate of appreciation in recognition of his exemplary leadership and continuous efforts in nurturing student talent.

Cyber Security Awareness Session Organised at PM Shri Govt. HSS Bhalra
Doda, June 12- PM Shri Govt. Higher Secondary School Bhalra, in collaboration with 10 J&K Battalion NCC Bhaderwah, successfully organised a Cyber Security Awareness Session in the ICT Lab of the institution.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets and students, who were sensitised about various aspects of cyber safety, digital responsibility, and online security. The session was conducted by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Koul, Associate NCC Officer, who highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital age and educated participants about cyber threats, online frauds, safe internet practices, protection of personal data, password management, cyber ethics, and responsible use of social media.
Participants were also informed about the Cyber Security Awareness Initiative and encouraged to enrol in the online cybersecurity course offered through the IIT Jammu–CyberPeace platform. They were motivated to promote cyber hygiene and spread awareness within their communities.
The programme was organised under the able guidance of the Principal, Smt. Asha Bhalwal, who appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of regular awareness programmes to equip students with essential digital skills. An interactive session allowed students to share experiences and clarify doubts, making the programme engaging and informative.
The NCC cadets also attended their regular parade and training session, and refreshments were served to all participants. The programme concluded with a pledge to practise safe online behaviour and promote cyber awareness.
