Sakeena Itoo tours Chatroo; lays foundation stone for remodelling of GHSS, inaugurates NTPHC Inderwal

KISHTWAR, AUGUST 18: Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo, today conducted an extensive tour of Sub-Division Chatroo in Kishtwar district, during which she inaugurated key development projects and reviewed the major infrastructure initiatives aimed at strengthening education and healthcare facilities in the area.

During the tour, Sakeena Itoo laid the foundation stone for remodelling of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Chatroo, being executed at an estimated cost of ₹13.27 crore. The project is expected to give a significant boost to educational infrastructure and provide improved facilities to the students of the area.

The Minister also inaugurated NTPHC Inderwal and inspected the ongoing work on Government Degree College (GDC) Chatroo, for which she had sanctioned ₹10.62 crore.

Sakeena Itoo was accompanied by MLA Inderwal, Pyare Lal Sharma and ADDC Kishtwar, Vinod Kumar Behal, along with other officers and officials.

During interaction with the public at TRC Chatroo, several issues concerning the upgradation of schools and strengthening of health infrastructure were brought to the notice of the Minister. She gave a patient hearing to the concerns and assured the people of every possible support for their early resolution.

The Minister also asked the MLA Inderwal to submit a consolidated list of the demands and issues raised by the public so that the same could be taken up for immediate redressal on a priority basis.

In a significant announcement, Sakeena Itoo stated that NTPHC Mughal Maidan would be upgraded to a PHC, while PHC Chatroo would be upgraded to a Sub-District Hospital. These measures are aimed at further strengthening the healthcare delivery system and ensuring improved medical facilities for the people closer to their homes.

At TRC Chatroo, Sakeena Itoo distributed motorized tricycles, wheelchairs, baby kits and baby blankets among beneficiaries. Under the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” initiative, she also distributed sports kits and school bags to various Government Schools and handed over hearing aids to beneficiaries.

On the occasion, she also distributed appointment letters among the newly appointed Anganwadi Workers.

CEO Doda conducts surprise inspection of Schools in Assar Zone

DODA, AUGUST 18: Chief Education Officer Doda Bhushan Kumar Pathak conducted surprise visits to Government High School Bulandpur and Government Upper Primary School Ranka in Educational Zone Assar, today, to assess the functioning of the institutions and review the quality of education being imparted to students.

During the visits, the CEO interacted with students and members of the teaching staff and took feedback regarding the academic and co-curricular activities being undertaken in the schools. He also reviewed classroom activities and emphasised the need for effective teaching-learning practices aimed at improving students’ learning outcomes.

The CEO inspected the available infrastructure and assessed the overall facilities being provided to the students. He also reviewed the Mid-Day Meal arrangements, with focus on quality, hygiene and proper implementation of the scheme.

He further underscored the importance of maintaining school infrastructure, ensuring a conducive classroom environment and implementing all departmental initiatives in letter and spirit.

The surprise inspections were aimed at strengthening institutional accountability, monitoring ground-level implementation of educational programmes and ensuring better learning outcomes for students.

DIET Doda organises orientation programme on Holistic Progress Card and Mental Well-being at GHSS Bharath, GHS Bhelli

DODA, AUGUST 18: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Doda organised a one-day orientation programme and seminar at Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) Bharath and High School (HS) Bhelli today, focusing on the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) and the mental health and well-being of students and teachers. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Principal, DIET Doda.

The programme was attended by the Heads of Institutions (HoIs) of Cluster Bharath, with around 60 teachers participating in the orientation and interactive sessions. The programme aimed to sensitise educators about holistic assessment practices and strengthen awareness regarding the importance of mental health, emotional well-being and a supportive school environment.

During the programme, DNO DIET Doda Zakia Khanum conducted awareness activities and interacted with students and teachers at GHS Bhelli and GHSS Bharath. She highlighted the significance of mental health and emotional well-being and emphasised the need to create a safe, supportive and positive environment conducive to the overall development of students and teachers.

DNO INSPIRE-MANAK Zahid Ahmed (Lecturer) also sensitised the participants about the INSPIRE-MANAK programme, its objectives and the important role of schools in promoting innovation, creativity and scientific temperament among students.

The interactive sessions provided teachers an opportunity to deliberate on various aspects of holistic assessment, student well-being and balanced academic development, with emphasis on nurturing the cognitive, emotional, social and overall development of learners.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening school-level initiatives aimed at promoting holistic assessment, mental health awareness, innovation and the overall well-being of students and teachers.

UFM Committee meeting on August 20: JKBOSE

JAMMU, AUGUST 18: The Unfair Means Committee (UFM) of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is scheduled to hold a meeting on August 20, 2026, to examine cases of alleged use of unfair means by certain candidates of Classes 10, 11 & 12 Session Annual Private/Bi-Annual 2026 of Summer Zone and Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division and Class 10 JKSOS, Annual/Bi-annual 2024-25.

The meeting would be chaired by the Joint Secretary, Secrecy/UFM, Jammu Division and will commence at 10:30 AM onwards at the JKBOSE Office, Rehari Colony, Jammu.

The Committee would review and dispose of the cases in accordance with the relevant regulations. The concerned candidates are required to appear before the Committee to present their cases along with supporting evidence.

Calls for time-bound completion of projects, optimal utilisation of funds

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 17: Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo today chaired a high-level meeting to review the action taken and progress achieved on decisions taken during earlier review meetings, with particular focus on major infrastructure and development projects being implemented by the Health, Education and Social Welfare departments across Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Education, Ram Niwas Sharma; Special Secretaries of Higher Education, Health and Education Departments; Directors of Health Services Jammu and Kashmir; Directors of School Education Jammu and Kashmir; Principals of Government Medical Colleges and other senior officers of the concerned departments.

The Minister undertook a comprehensive review of the physical and financial progress of various ongoing projects, including infrastructure works, Capex and SASCI projects, utilisation of funds, procurement of equipment and implementation of decisions taken in previous review meetings.

Emphasising the importance of translating sanctioned projects into tangible outcomes for the people, Sakeena Itoo directed the officers to ensure strict adherence to timelines, close monitoring of ex*****on and clear accountability at every stage. She stressed that financial expenditure must correspond with actual physical progress and called for immediate resolution of bottlenecks causing delays.

Bhader Singh Conferred with Prestigious Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card
Jammu, August 16, 2026:
Bhader Singh, Lecturer in Economics, presently posted at Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) Dablehar, R.S. Pura, Jammu, and a resident of Village Chanser, Bhallessa, District Doda, has been conferred with the prestigious Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Commendation Card on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day in recognition of his distinguished services and commitment during Operation Sindoor.
Bhader Singh rendered dedicated services in a challenging and sensitive environment during the operation. As part of his responsibilities, he extended essential support to evacuees, including assistance related to loading, medical support, movement and other necessary arrangements, ensuring that affected and displaced persons received timely care and assistance during a difficult period.
Going beyond his assigned responsibilities, Bhader Singh also made efforts to reduce the psychological impact of the crisis on children belonging to disadvantaged and affected groups. He engaged children in ICT-based activities, sports and other constructive educational activities, helping them remain positively occupied and providing a sense of normalcy during a period of fear, uncertainty and stress.
His services were not limited to evacuation and relief-related duties. He also worked in coordination with 17 Rashtriya Rifles (17 RR) at Sounder, Dachhan, District Kishtwar, contributing to humanitarian and support activities in a challenging and militancy-affected area. His efforts reflected a strong spirit of service, courage, coordination and commitment towards the nation and the community.
The conferment of the COAS Commendation Card is being seen as a matter of immense pride for the people of Bhallessa, Doda, Jammu & Kashmir, as well as for the School Education Department. Bhader Singh's recognition demonstrates that the role of an educator extends beyond the classroom, particularly during times of crisis when public service, compassion, leadership and dedication are needed most.
It is understood that Bhader Singh is among the very few, and reportedly the first, civilian employee from the School Education Department of Jammu & Kashmir to receive this distinguished Army honour. Government High School Ranthal Celebrates Independence Day 2026 with Great Zeal and Patriotic Fervour
Ranthal, Rajouri (J&K), August 15, 2026:

Government High School Ranthal celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great zeal, enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents, staff members and distinguished members of the local community.
The celebration was graced by Sh. O. P. Sharma, Lecturer (Retired) and Ex-Sarpanch, as the Chief Guest. The programme was hosted by Sh. Shabir Ahmed Bhatti, Headmaster, Government High School Ranthal, while Sh. Neeraj Bhaskar and Dr. Dushyant Pradeep served as Stage Secretaries and ably coordinated the proceedings.

CEO Reasi Reviews Academic Standards, Learning Outcomes & Independence Day Preparedness Across Zone Pouni.

REASI, AUGUST 12, 2026: In a continued push towards strengthening quality education, technology-enabled learning and holistic school development, Chief Education Officer Reasi, Smt. Geetu Bangotra, today conducted a comprehensive academic inspection of three educational institutions in Zone Pouni.
The institutions inspected included PM SHRI Government High School Talwara, Government Mobile Middle School Talwara and Government High School Kheral.
During the visit, the CEO undertook an extensive review of the teaching-learning process and overall academic functioning of the schools. She visited classrooms, interacted directly with students and assessed their learning outcomes, conceptual understanding and classroom engagement. She also inspected laboratories, libraries and other academic facilities, while reviewing various curricular and co-curricular activities being undertaken by the institutions.
With the nation gearing up to celebrate the 80th Independence Day, Smt. Bangotra also reviewed the ongoing rehearsals and preparations for the Independence Day celebrations and impressed upon the school authorities to ensure enthusiastic and meaningful participation of students.
Interacting with the teaching fraternity, the CEO called for greater integration of technology and innovative pedagogical practices into everyday classroom teaching. She particularly emphasised experiential and activity-based learning, practical exposure and child-centred education, with a focus on making learning more engaging, meaningful and outcome-oriented.
Smt. Bangotra further stressed the importance of maintaining clean, green and hygienic school campuses and surroundings. Education Department Doda Reviews School Infrastructure, Attendance and Key Developmental Initiatives

DODA, AUGUST 12-A general review meeting of the Education Department, District Doda, was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Education Officer, Doda, Sh. Bhushan Kumar Pathak, to review the overall functioning of schools and assess the progress of various ongoing departmental activities and priority areas across the district.

The meeting was attended by Principals, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), Headmasters of High Schools and other concerned officials of the Education Department.

During the meeting, school infrastructure and physical facilities were reviewed in detail. Particular focus was laid on the condition of school buildings, damaged infrastructure and timely reporting of deficiencies. The CEO directed the concerned officers and Heads of Institutions to undertake regular physical monitoring of school infrastructure and ensure prompt action on issues requiring immediate attention.

The meeting also reviewed the attendance of teaching and non-teaching staff as well as students. The Heads of Institutions and concerned officers were directed to ensure regular and accurate monitoring of attendance and strict adherence to the prescribed attendance mechanisms.

The status of civil works and construction-related activities was also discussed. The officers reviewed ongoing works, pending projects and bottlenecks affecting their timely completion. Special emphasis was laid on resolving land-related issues hampering construction and other developmental works. The concerned officers were directed to maintain close coordination with the relevant authorities for early resolution of such matters.

Progress regarding Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) and APAAR ID generation was also assessed. The CEO directed ZEOs, Principals and Heads of Institutions to closely monitor school-wise pendency, coordinate with Aadhaar operators and ensure coverage of all eligible students within the stipulated timelines.

The CEO emphasized that the progress of these activities is being regularly monitored at the district level and called upon all concerned officers to ensure timely reporting, effective coordination and immediate corrective measures wherever required.

Sh. Bhushan Kumar Pathak stressed upon all officers and Heads of Institutions to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, coordination and accountability, with a focus on effective implementation of departmental directions and continuous improvement in the functioning of schools across District Doda.

The meeting concluded with directions to all concerned to ensure strict compliance with the prescribed timelines, targets and departmental instructions.
