Postgraduate Department of Orthodontics GDC Jammu

In an attempt to create awareness among specialists and common masses, IOS is conducting nation wide public awareness programmes about the speciality of Orthodontics which includes orthodontic awareness camps and Car Rallies.
On 14 aug 2022 orthodontic awareness camp was organised by team of orthodontists of Jammu led by Dr. Akshay Gupta (Hod Department of Orthodontics IGGDC, Jammu) and joined by Dr Abhimanyu Rohmetra, Dr Yasir, Dr Ajaz and Dr Vikas at Ved Mandir amphalla Jammu. More than 130 underprivileged children were examined during the camp. Children were educated about the speciality and it's importance in addressing various maloccusions. Besides medicines were given as required. Toothpastes , sweets and Indian National Flags were distributed to all to commemorate it with Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav.

It's also the day when we commemorate and pay homage to the courageous sacrifices of our freedom fighters, who fought hard with a worthy patriotic spirit to get their home free of British oppression. Dept of Orthodontics celebrated this day with zest & zeal
The department of Orthodontics also participated in Ministry of Culture program.With this year National Anthem theme "Nation First, always first" video recorded in the Dept of Orthodontics of Rashtragàan was uploaded on the link provided by Govt of India to mark our active participation & recieved certificate of appreciation also...

Dept of Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics in collaboration with ormco is going to organise a webinar on Damon psl with class II correction on 19/07/21 @ 11am..
The program will commence with a welcome address from HOD Orthodontics Dr Akshay Gupta and worthy Principal IGGDC Jammu Dr. Rakesh Gupta followed by the speaker Dr. Sanjay labh. Program will conclude with a vote of thanks from Dr. Arvind Mengi ( Ass. Prof Dept of Orthodontics)

Two Interns namely Arushi & Shalini posted in the Dept of Orthodontics & DO from 2/02/21 to 01/03/21 have been selected as "Interns of the month" for their ingenious way of case presentation, unerring wire bending and appliance fabrication, empathy towards patients besides utmost patient care & sincerity towards the profession...

In an informal meet in main OPD of Dept. Of Orthodontics with those who were present there, HOD Dr. Akshay Gupta, Dr. Faisal Arshad, Pg students and interns posted in the Dept. Dr. Akshay Gupta rewarded "Interns of the month" with gifts & encouraged them to keep up the good work.

The purpose of such activities held in the Dept. Of Orthodontics is to boost confidence among the students & also to encourage them to contribute in Dept. with best abilities for patient care & other activities of the Dept.

In future, such activities will continue and best among the interns will be selected on their overall performance in the Dept. and will be rewarded on the World Orthodontic Day every year....

15 May is celebrated as World Orthodontic Day to commomerate the services that an Orthodontist renders to the society.

Today World Orthodontic Day was celebrated with great zeal at virtual platform due to lockdown. Students participated in the virtual event by making posters for public awareness. Among the posters best of the lot were selected by the Jury which consisted of Dr. Akshay Gupta ( HOD Orthodontics), Dr. Rubina Anjum (HOD Oral Pathology), Dr. Azhar Malik (HOD Cons. & Endo)

Worthy Principal Dr. Rakesh Gupta Iggdc Jammu also graced the online event. After best wishes, he sent a vote of thanks to the Orthodontists for their relentless services in improving the faces of patients all over the world and boosting confidence among them..

Of Orthodontics) which we celebrated with great pomp and show🎂🎂.Faculty members ,Post graduate students,House surgeons,interns and other students celebrated the occasion together💐💐.We wish lots of joy and happiness to our Respected sir🥳.

On the 20th Dec morning , A marathon was organised by IGGDC in which all the faculty members, students participated. Students & faculty members were provided with certificate of participation from the worthy principal of IGGDC Jammu Dr. Rakesh k. Gupta & sports incharge Dr. Akshay Gupta(Professor and HOD of Deptt of Orthodontics and DO. Certificate of achievement was distributed among the students who achieved first 3 ranks...Deptt. of Orthodontics was represented by Dr Neena Parihar Dr Sanju Bhagat Dr Yasir Ayub Dr Ajaz Bhatt,In which Dr Yasir Ayub (pg student in deptt of Orthodontics and DO) got the certificate of Achievement of being 2nd in his category.

After the beginning of Pg courses in different specialities at IGGDC Jammu ,first interdepartmental meet was held on 12 dec 2020.The topic of IDM was"Adjunctive Orthodontics-Orthodontics for Better Prosthesis" which was presented by 𝘿𝙧 𝘼𝙟𝙖𝙯 𝘽𝙝𝙖𝙩 (PG student).The meet was moderated by 𝘿𝙧 𝙉𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙝𝙖𝙧 .At the end 𝘿𝙧 𝘼𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙮 𝙂𝙪𝙥𝙩𝙖 (Prof.&Head Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics) emphasized on the importance of interdisciplinary approach for better patient care. Principal IGGDC Prof. 𝘿𝙧 𝙍𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨𝙝 𝙆𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙂𝙪𝙥𝙩𝙖 concluded the meet & encouraged the students to participate in interdepartmental presentations.
