A celebration of freedom, fitness, unity, and wellbeing!

The Freedom Run 2026 at IIT Jammu witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 200+ participants in the Marathon and Walkathon. The event brought together students, faculty, staff, and the IIT Jammu community to celebrate Independence Day through fitness and togetherness.

Strengthening an existing partnership. Creating new avenues for collaboration.

IIT Jammu has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu, reaffirming its commitment to deeper academic and institutional engagement.

The renewed MoU was signed by Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, and Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET Jammu. Building on the partnership established in July 2021, the renewed agreement will remain in effect for another five years.

The collaboration will provide a framework for joint initiatives across:

Exploring the Future of Low-Carbon Combustion

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Jammu invites students, faculty and staff to a research presentation on the role of ammonia-based fuel blends in developing sustainable combustion systems.

Dr. Pragya Berwal Singh, Post-doctoral Researcher at Seoul National University, South Korea, will present her experimental research on CH₄/H₂/NH₃–air premixed flames, examining how ammonia concentration, temperature and pressure influence laminar burning velocity and combustion characteristics.

The session offers an opportunity to explore emerging research in combustion science, alternative fuels and sustainable energy, while engaging with a researcher working at the intersection of clean energy and advanced energy systems.

A significant step towards strengthening AI-led governance, innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation in Jammu & Kashmir.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Omar Abdullah, today launched the J&K Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (AI CoE) and dedicated Project Phoenix, a digital commerce platform, to the people of Jammu & Kashmir at IIT Jammu.

Established at IIT Jammu with the support of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and the Information Technology Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, the AI CoE will serve as a hub for AI research, evaluation, technology customisation and deployment, enabling solutions for real-world challenges across key sectors.

Project Phoenix is designed to connect artisans, self-help groups, cooperatives, startups, brands and MSMEs from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh with wider national and global markets, strengthening digital market access and entrepreneurship.

The event was held in the presence of Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu; Shri Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K; and Shri Saurabh Bhagat, Administrative Secretary, Information Technology Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, along with other dignitaries and stakeholders.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister highlighted the role of emerging technologies in enabling citizen-centric governance and expanding opportunities for local enterprises. Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur reaffirmed IIT Jammu’s commitment to translating research and emerging technologies into solutions with tangible societal impact.

Together, the J&K AI CoE and Project Phoenix mark an important milestone towards building a knowledge-driven, innovation-led and inclusive technology ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir.
