AI CoE J&K at IIT Jammu & Department of IT, J&K Organise One-Day Workshop on AI Use Cases for Jammu & Kashmir
The MeitY AI CoE J&K at IIT Jammu, in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, organised a One-Day Workshop on AI Use Cases for Jammu & Kashmir at IIT Jammu.
Inaugurated by Shri Atal Dulloo, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, the workshop brought together senior government officials, academicians, researchers, industry partners, startups, NGOs and technology innovators to explore practical and implementable applications of AI across key sectors.
Over 20 organisations presented 30+ AI solutions for potential pilot implementation across Agriculture, Health, Education & Skills, Governance & Internal Security, Public Works, Transport, Disaster Management, and Energy.
The deliberations focused on deployment readiness, data and infrastructure requirements, pilot scope, cost, scalability, timelines and measurable impact. A key outcome was the preparation and presentation of departmental AI pilot roadmaps before the Chief Secretary, outlining identified use cases, proposed pilot approaches, expected outcomes and implementation requirements.
Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, emphasised the importance of collaboration between government, academia, industry, startups and technology providers to develop AI solutions addressing the specific needs of Jammu & Kashmir.
The workshop marks an important step towards identifying, evaluating, piloting and scaling AI applications for public-sector use, with a focus on efficient, responsive and citizen-centric governance.
