Sāyyidul Istighfār:
The enjoyment of ˹worldly˺ desires—women, children, treasures of gold and silver, fine horses, cattle, and fertile land—has been made appealing to people. These are the pleasures of this worldly life, but with Allah is the finest destination.
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Shall I inform you of what is better than ˹all of˺ this? Those mindful ˹of Allah˺ will have Gardens with their Lord under which rivers flow, to stay there forever, and pure spouses, along with Allah’s pleasure.” And Allah is All-Seeing of ˹His˺ servants,
who pray, “Our Lord! We have believed, so forgive our sins and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”
˹It is they˺ who are patient, sincere, obedient, and charitable, and who pray for forgiveness before dawn.
Surah Al-Imran ||Verses 14-17||
Why should Allah punish you if you are grateful and faithful? Allah is ever Appreciative, All-Knowing.
Surah An-Nisa ||Verse 147

Pragmatism in Islam: Acting Wisely Without Losing Principles
Islam never asked us to be unrealistic, nor to lose our values in the name of being “practical.” It teaches us to walk the middle path — to stay firm on truth while also being wise about how and when we act.
Imam al-Shatibi رحمه الله said, “The goal of Shari'ah. is to bring benefit and remove harm.” This means Islam is not rigid or harsh. It’s a path of mercy and purpose, rooted in what helps people in both this world and the next.
Look at the Prophet ﷺ during the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. On the surface, it looked like a defeat. Some of the companions were even confused. But the Prophet ﷺ saw beyond the moment. He chose peace with dignity, and that became a clear victory, just as Allah promised in Surah al-Fath.
Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله also said something deeply wise: “Not everything true should be said at all times.” That’s not about hiding the truth. It’s about knowing how and when to speak. That is real wisdom.
Islamic pragmatism is not about shortcuts. It’s not about pleasing people. It’s about being deeply grounded in faith, and moving with insight, balance, and awareness of Allah.
We are not told to win every argument. We are told to stay sincere, to protect what matters, and to trust that Allah sees the bigger picture.
