MIER College of Education proudly felicitates Dr. Suneel Kumar Bhat, Sr. Librarian, and Ms. Eesha Sharma, Librarian, MIER College of Education, along with Dr. Arun Gupta, Librarian, GDC Chenani, on the grant of the patent titled “Self-Service Library Information Kiosk.” The innovative design introduces a standalone, user-friendly kiosk that enables library users to access essential services independently without staff assistance. Designed for accessibility, ergonomics, and modern functionality, the kiosk features touch-screen interfaces, scanning capabilities, document output areas, and inclusive features for users with disabilities. Constructed from durable, aesthetically adaptable materials, the kiosk aims to reduce staff workload, enhance user autonomy, and improve spatial organisation in academic and public libraries. The patent reflects the innovators’ commitment to advancing library services through technology-driven, inclusive solutions, contributing significantly to the modernisation of library systems and the user experience in educational institutions.

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of MIER College of Education organized a thought-provoking guest lecture on the theme “Equality of Opportunity: Bridging the Gap between Constitutional Promise and Ground Reality.”
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Neha Tewatia, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Equal Opportunity Cell, who set the tone by highlighting the urgent need to critically examine the gap between constitutional ideals and their implementation in everyday life. The event was attended by Dr. Monika Bajaj, Head of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities; Dr. Bharti Tandon, Deputy Head of the School of Education; Dr. Aparna Kour, Deputy Head of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities; members of the IQAC, faculty, and students.
The esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Bindu Sangra, Senior Assistant Professor at the Law School, University of Jammu, delivered an insightful address. She emphasized that true constitutional literacy extends beyond mere knowledge of laws and requires a critical understanding of societal realities. She urged students to reflect on the progress made and the challenges that persist in ensuring equal opportunity. Dr. Sangra expressed hope that such academic engagements would motivate students to move beyond theoretical perspectives and actively contribute to bridging this gap within their communities and institutions.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal of MIER College of Education, underscored that bridging the gap between constitutional promises and ground realities is not solely the responsibility of institutions but a shared duty of all informed citizens. He encouraged students to carry forward the values of constitutional equality and work towards fostering a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sahil Bhagat, Assistant Professor, who expressed his gratitude to the distinguished speaker, participants, faculty members, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.

Workshop on “Moodle-Based Course Development”
Centre for Educational Technology organised a hands-on workshop on “Moodle-Based Course Development” on the occasion of National Technology Day. Under TEL initiatives, around 30 faculty members from School of Education and School of Social Sciences & humanities of the College participated in the workshop conducted in the Computer Lab, Admin Wing.
The workshop was conducted by Prof. Mool Raj, Head, Centre for Educational Technology (CET), who provided hands-on training to the faculty members on LMS access, creation of course shells, development of standardised course structure, uploading of academic resources, and organisation of digital learning content for the forthcoming semester. The session aimed at strengthening technology-enabled teaching-learning practices and promoting effective use of the College LMS for blended and online learning. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mool Raj highlighted the significance of National Technology Day and stated that technology has become an essential academic enabler in higher education, transforming teaching, learning, assessment, and academic communication. He emphasised the importance of faculty readiness and institutional digital preparedness in the contemporary educational landscape.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director of the College appreciated the efforts of the Centre for Educational Technology for organising meaningful faculty development initiatives and promoting effective integration of educational technologies in the institution. The workshop concluded with practical course development activities and active faculty participation.

MIER NSS Volunteers Participate in Vande Bharat Express Flagging-Off Ceremony
A group of 21 NSS volunteers from MIER College of Education enthusiastically participated in the historic flagging-off ceremony of the Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express on 30 April 2026. Organized under Northern Railway, the event marked a major milestone in strengthening connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir and was attended by dignitaries including Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw( Union Minister of Railways), Dr. Jitendra Singh (Union Minister of State), Shri Manoj Sinha( Lieutenant Governor ) and Mr. OmarAbdullah ( Chief Minister). The inauguration of the 20-coach all-weather train connecting Jammu Tawi directly to Srinagar is being viewed as a transformative step towards enhancing connectivity, tourism, and economic growth in the Union Territory. The volunteers travelled from Jammu Tawi to Sangaldan, witnessing the scenic beauty and tourism potential of the region. Prof. Hema Gandotra, NSS Coordinator, University of Jammu, coordinated the visit, while Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education appreciated the volunteers’ enthusiastic participation and emphasized the importance of experiential learning programmes in fostering socially responsible youth.

Writing Funded Research Proposals and Grant Application organised by MIER College
The Research and Development Cell of MIER College of Education (Autonomous), Jammu, organised a workshop titled “Writing Funded Research Proposals and Grant Application” on 4th May 2026. The workshop was conducted for the faculty members of the School of Education and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities with the objective of strengthening their research competencies and enhancing their ability to secure research funding. The resource person of the workshop was Prof. Nishta Rana, Head, School of Education and Research and Development Cell, MIER.
At the outset, the purpose and structure of the workshop were outlined, emphasising the growing importance of funded research in higher education. Prof. Nishta Rana provided detailed insights into the essential components of a research proposal, including identification of research problems, formulation of objectives, review of literature, research design, budgeting, and alignment with funding priorities. Special emphasis was placed on clarity, feasibility, originality, and societal relevance in proposal writing. During the interactive sessions, participants were assigned in different group based on their disciplines and asked to identify a suitable research problem for the proposal. All the faculty members came up with different ideas and shared it with the resource person. She guided them on how to identify suitable research topics, funding agencies, understand their eligibilities, and how to tailor proposals accordingly. The workshop created a collaborative academic environment where faculty members actively engaged in discussions and shared their perspectives.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Principal, MIER College of Education, encouraged and guided the faculty members by emphasising the importance of engaging in quality research and securing funded projects. He appreciated the initiative taken by the Research and Development Cell and motivated the participants to translate their research ideas into impactful proposals that contribute to academic advancement and societal development
The programme was ably conducted by Dr. Aakriti Singh, member, RDC and Assistant Professor, SoE. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Priya Choudhary, member, RDC and Assistant Professor, SSSH.

MIER College of Education, Jammu, felicitated Ms. Reya Choudhary, an NSS Volunteer and B.Ed. Special Education (Semester II) student, for her participation in a four-day Residential Life Skills Education and Training Programme organized by the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Regional Centre, Chandigarh, from 15th to 18th April 2026. The programme focused on essential life skills such as self-awareness, empathy, effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and coping with stress and emotions, delivered through interactive sessions and group activities. Resource persons, including Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, emphasized practical application in leadership and daily life. Ms. Choudhary actively engaged in all sessions, reflecting enthusiasm and confidence. The programme was graced by Dr. Subrata Hazra, Director, RGNIYD. Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal, MIER College of Education, congratulated her achievement and commended her dedication, noting that such experiential learning opportunities are vital for developing confident, socially responsible, and skilled future educators.

The NSS Unit of MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organized a workshop on “First Aid and Casualty Management Services” on 23rd April 2026 for faculty members and students from the School of Education and School of Social Sciences and Humanities. The objective of the workshop was to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergency situations. The team of Civil Defence Organization Jammu was headed by Mr. Zia-ul-Haq, Deputy Controller Civil Defense Jammu, Mr. Paramjit Kumar, Chief Warden, Mr. Vijay Mangotra, Deputy Chief Warden and the resource persons were Mr. Sohan Lal and Mr. Parshotam K. Kumar, Senior Constables.
The session commenced with a formal welcome address delivered by Ms. Aksh*ta Khajuria, a student of B.Ed. Spl. Education Semester II. The resource persons emphasized first-aid and casualty management, highlighting that casualties may need to be moved to a safer treatment area for safety concerns. Participants were also briefed on essential principles for first responders, such as evaluating the scene quickly and calmly, ensuring personal and casualty safety, and seeking professional help promptly. Additionally, the session included demonstrations on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), handling breathing obstructions, and the correct usage of fire extinguishers. Special focus was given to managing choking in infants, children, and adults, for both conscious and unconscious patients. They also demonstrated how to respond effectively in cases of heavy bleeding during accidents or disasters and how to safely and swiftly lift and move a person as a trauma patient. The hands-on approach ensured that participants could not only understand but also visualize the practical application of these life saving techniques.
Dr. Adit Gupta praised the NSS Unit for putting together such a successful program. He stated that first aid is crucial since it can save a person's life in an emergency. Since there is always a race against time in most medical situations, acting swiftly is crucial. Such orientation is necessary for NSS volunteers because they assist with disaster relief and community welfare.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Ms. Ananya, a student of B.A. Hons Psychology, Semester VIII, acknowledging the efforts of the resource persons and organizers. The compering of the event was done by Ms. Ritika Bhat, from B.Ed. Spl. Education Semester II. The event was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Komal Sharma, NSS Programme Officer.

Participation in MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026 at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre
The NSS Unit of MIER College of Education takes pride in the commendable participation of Ms. Vishakha Bhau and Mr. Shiv Paul, B.Ed. Special Education (Semester IV), in MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026 held at SKICC, Srinagar. Both volunteers qualified through a rigorous selection process, reflecting their academic excellence and awareness of national issues. Ms. Vishakha Bhau further distinguished herself by participating in the All-Women Youth Parliament, assuming the role of Minister of Culture, and was felicitated for her performance. The event featured insightful discussions on sustainable development, with active student engagement, and interactions with eminent leaders.
