On 24July 2026, as part of the "Sansad Chalo" movement, thousands of protesters gathered around Connaught Place (CP), New Delhi, after marching from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament. Large crowds assembled near Central Park and the Outer Circle, leading to traffic disruptions and heightened security. Clashes broke out when some protesters attempted to move past police barricades. Reports stated that stone-pelting, vandalism, baton charges (lathi-charge), and the use of tear gas occurred during the unrest. Protesters alleged excessive use of force by the police, while Delhi Police stated that they acted to maintain law and order and later registered FIRs to investigate incidents of violence and damage to public property. The protest brought national attention to issues of education reforms, public demonstrations, and policing.
