đī¸Human Behavior Is Shaped More by Perception Than by Reality
We often believe that we react to reality. But most of the time, we react to our perception of reality.
Two people can experience the same situation and respond completely differently. One may see a failure as proof that they are not good enough, while another may see the same failure as a lesson. The event is the sameâthe interpretation is different.
Our past experiences, emotions, beliefs, expectations, fears, and biases create a mental filter through which we see the world. And our behaviour is often driven by that filtered version of reality.
That is why perception matters so much in relationships, business, investing, and everyday decision-making.
Before reacting to a situation, ask yourself:
âAm I responding to what actually happenedâor to what I think it means?â
Sometimes, changing our behaviour begins not by changing reality, but by changing the way we see it.
