Golden Jubilee School was started in 1998 as a result of the efforts of a group of leading citizens of Jalna who felt the need to start an institution on the lines of leading Public Schools in the country. The School, therefore, while fostering in students, a strong value base, will encourage a thinking process which will facilitate intelligent adaptability to face the challenges in this fast chan
ging society. This calls for an education that fosters independent thinking, an analytical mind, and spirit of inquiry and experimentation, as a life long process along with life skills. With these aims constantly in mind, it is the school’s endeavour to develop in each student the following:
Keeping in mind the vision and mission, the school has been affiliated to the progressive Board, Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and follows the National Curriculum Framework. The medium of instruction in the school is English with Hindi as the second language (up to class 10) and Marathi as the third language (up to 8). The classes start from LKG and go up to XII. The school also has a Nursery wing in the school complex called Jubilee Kids. School hours extend from 8.00 am to 5.00pm depending on the class. The afternoon session is primarily devoted for doing assignments which otherwise would have been given as homework as well as for extracurricular activities and games. The students complete most of the assignments under the guidance and supervision of subject teachers in the school itself. They do not carry any ‘homework’ in lower classes. Textbooks and notebooks are issued by the school and there is provision to keep them in the school itself. The children therefore do not have to lug heavy school bags nor do the parents have to bother helping their children with the homework. The school does not encourage students to take any tuition. The school provides snacks in the morning and lunch on full working days at a reasonable cost for children of classes 1 and above, which is compulsory for all to have. The food is vegetarian. Children are not allowed to bring food from home. The number of students in any class is 25 and as such it is possible for the teachers to give individual attention to each and every student in the class. Children who lag behind are given additional help during the preparation period and games time. Teachers recognise that each child is different and his/her learning style is different and so make an effort to reach out to them in the best way they understand. Individual attention is not restricted to academics but to every aspect of education, be it sports & games, extracurricular activities, life-skills, discipline or value education. Their aim was to establish a full-day school which would provide individualised student centred education for the all round personality development of the students with innovative methodology and the added advantage of ‘no satchels and no home work’ at least in the lower classes.
