The Government of India has launched PM-RAHAT (Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment) to ensure immediate and cashless medical care for road accident victims.
Launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Seva Teerth, the scheme strengthens lifesaving support during the critical Golden Hour.

🔹 Cashless Treatment:
Up to ₹1.5 lakh coverage for 7 days from the accident date
🔹 Golden Hour Response:
Integrated with 112 ERSS for rapid ambulance & hospital access
🔹 Digital Integration:
eDAR linked with TMS 2.0 for seamless processing
🔹 Hospital Reimbursement:
Paid through MVAF (insured, uninsured & hit-and-run cases)
🔹 Fast Claim Settlement:
Approved claims settled within 10 days by State Health Agency
🔹 Grievance Redressal:

A detailed District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting was held at the DC Office Conference Hall, Keylong, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Lahaul & Spiti to strengthen road safety systems in the district.

🔎 Major Decisions & Directions:

✔ Crash barriers to be installed at identified black spots
✔ Strengthening ambulance & emergency medical services
✔ ₹25,000 cash reward for Good Samaritans assisting accident victims
✔ Strict enforcement against over-speeding & drunken driving
✔ Intensified awareness and preventive road safety activities

📊 Accident Review (2025):
20 road accidents reported | 12 fatalities | 58 injuries
DC expressed serious concern and directed all departments to ensure coordinated, result-oriented action to reduce accidents.
