Honoring the Hands that Feed Us: Farmers’ Day at COLOURS International School
On December 23, 2025, COLOURS International School celebrated Kisan Diwas (National Farmers’ Day) with great enthusiasm and gratitude. The campus was filled with the spirit of the countryside as students gathered to honor the backbone of our nation—the farmers.
The celebration was a heartfelt tribute to the hard work, resilience, and vital role that farmers play in our daily lives.
The Heart of the Event: "The Journey of a Farmer 🧑‍🌾 " Skit
The highlight of the day was a moving skit performed by the students. Dressed in traditional attire, the young actors took the audience on an emotional and educational journey.
> "Through this skit, we realized that the food on our plates isn't just a product of a store; it is the result of months of sweat and hope from a farmer."
Significance: Why We Celebrate Kisan Diwas
National Farmers' Day is celebrated across India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Choudhary Charan Singh, the 5th Prime Minister of India, who was a champion for the rights of the farming community.
At COLOURS International School, we emphasize this day to instill two core values in our students:
* Gratitude: Understanding that every meal is a gift from someone’s hard work.
* Awareness: Learning about where our food comes from and the importance of sustainable farming.
The Importance of Farmers in Our Society
Farmers are much more than just food providers; they are the stewards of our land. Our celebration highlighted their importance through three key themes:
* Food Security: Without farmers, no nation can survive. They ensure that we have a steady supply of nutrition to grow and stay healthy.
* Economic Backbone: Agriculture remains the primary source of livelihood for a majority of India's population and is a vital contributor to our economy.
* Environmental Harmony: Farmers are the first line of defense in protecting our soil and biodiversity. By supporting local farmers, we support the health of our planet.
A Green Promise
To conclude the event, the students of COLOURS International School took a pledge to avoid food wastage as a mark of respect to the farming community. Small saplings were distributed to encourage children to try their hand at "kitchen gardening" and experience the joy of growing their own food.

* Run by Kids, for Kids: The Grade 4 to 8 students took on the roles of game masters, explaining the rules, managing the queues, and distributing exciting prizes, showcasing impressive coordination and management abilities.
The Joy of Being the Consumer
The true success of the event lay in the role reversal. The younger students and the entire school staff became the appreciative audience and delighted customers.
* A Relaxed and Fun Day for Staff: Teachers and non-organizing students had a truly relaxed and joyous day, spending time enjoying the food, playing the games, and interacting with the student organizers.
* Learning and Fun: The sheer fun of the games and the tasty treats allowed the junior students to celebrate the day with pure, unadulterated joy, while the staff praised the impressive organizational skills of their students.

🥦 A Vibrant Veggie Fiesta & Green Day at COLOURS International School 🌿
COLOURS International School's Pre-Primary wing celebrated a Veggie Fiesta and Green Day, transforming the campus into a vibrant marketplace and a hub of learning. This unique event was designed to teach children about the importance of vegetables and foundational life skills in a fun and interactive way.
Little Vendors, Big Lessons
The highlight of the event was when the children became little vegetable vendors. Each child was given a small stall, creatively decorated with green and vegetable-themed elements. They enthusiastically took on their roles, handling various vegetables like carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, and leafy greens. This hands-on activity helped them recognize different vegetables by sight and touch, building a tangible connection to the food they eat. The event promoted social interaction and boosted their confidence as they engaged with their peers and teachers in a playful, commercial setting.
Demonstrating Vegetables & Payment Skills
As part of the day's activities, children demonstrated the vegetables at their stalls, explaining their colors, shapes, and names. This simple act encouraged public speaking and reinforced their knowledge.
A key educational component was the introduction of payment skills. Children learned about both cash and online modes of payment. They used play money to buy and sell, practicing counting and simple transactions. Simultaneously, teachers used mock QR codes and pretend mobile screens to introduce the concept of digital payments. This dual-approach ensured they understood both traditional and modern methods of commerce, preparing them for the digital age.
Rhyme and Rhythm
To make the learning more engaging, the event included a lively rhyme session. The children sang catchy rhymes about vegetables, such as "Veggies, veggies, big and small, good for me and good for all!" These rhymes, set to simple tunes, helped them remember the names and benefits of different vegetables while adding an element of fun and music to the day.
The Significance of Vegetables
The day culminated in a special significance session led by the pre-primary teachers. They explained the importance of vegetables for a healthy body and strong mind. Using colorful charts and simple language, they discussed how vegetables provide energy, help us grow, and prevent sickness. The teachers' engaging and age-appropriate explanations ensured that the children not only enjoyed the day but also understood the core message: eating vegetables is vital for a healthy and happy life. The event was a resounding success, blending education with entertainment and leaving the children with lasting memories and valuable lessons.
