📚✨ Special Lecture at Department of Library and Information Science, University of Rajasthan ✨📚

The Department of Library & Information Science, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, organized a special lecture on “The Role of Libraries in the National Education Policy 2020” on 10 February 2026.
The distinguished guest and keynote speaker was Prof. Sonal Singh (Former Head, Department of Library & Information Science, Vikram University, Ujjain).

The program began with a warm welcome by Dr. Santosh Gupta, Assistant Professor, followed by enthusiastic participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and professionals in Library & Information Science.

In her insightful lecture, Prof. Singh emphasized that under the National Education Policy, modern librarians must become technologically skilled and multi-talented to provide better services to society and contribute meaningfully to nation-building. She highlighted:
- Libraries as vital pillars of education and gateways to knowledge and culture.
- The importance of libraries at the Anganwadi level for holistic child development.
- Balanced collections in schools, with resources in the mother tongue and support for computer literacy.
- The role of libraries in higher education as Learning Resource Centers, guiding technology and research.

Prof. Singh also stressed that libraries must evolve into global knowledge centers to help India achieve the vision of becoming a knowledge superpower. The interactive session included lively discussions with research scholars, making the event highly engaging.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vijendra Kumar, Assistant Professor.

🌟 Successful Completion of Online Refresher Course in Library & Information Science 🌟

We are delighted to share that the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Rajasthan & UGC-MMTTC, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur successfully conducted the Online Refresher Course in Library & Information Science from 5th–17th January 2026.

A total of 59 participants from 12 states across India joined the program, representing librarians and assistant professors from diverse institutions. Their active involvement gave the course a truly national character.

The course was enriched by 39 distinguished resource persons from leading institutions such as Delhi University, JNU, AMU, IIT Delhi, MNIT Jaipur, Panjab University, CUH, CUP, IGNCA, IFLA, and many more. Sessions covered themes like AI in Libraries, Digital Transformation, Research Data Management, Academic Integrity, Knowledge Systems, and Futuristic Technologies.
