The Shekhawat Thikana refers to the feudal estates established by the Shekhawat Rajputs, a branch of the Kachwaha clan, in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. These thikanas functioned as semi-autonomous principalities .Though not independent kingdoms, they held significant administrative, military, and cultural power.

Each Shekhawat Thikana was governed by a Thakur, whose seat included a fort or palace, surrounding villages, agricultural lands, and revenue rights. the thikana enjoyed hereditary rule and local autonomy.

Shekhawat thikanas such as Mandawa, Nawalgarh, Dundlod, Alsisar, and Sikar became centers of prosperity, especially during the rise of caravan trade. The wealth generated by merchants led to the construction of grand havelis, temples, stepwells, and chhatris, giving Shekhawati its distinctive architectural identity.

The legacy of the Shekhawat thikanas lives on through their forts, heritage structures, and continued cultural influence in Shekhawati.
