Just 40 km from Jaipur, near Samod village, lies Maleshwar Mahadev Temple, a hidden gem surrounded by the beautiful Aravalli Hills.
This ancient temple in Mahar Kala village is not only a scenic paradise but also a divine and mysterious place. The Shivling here is ‘Swayambhu’ (self-manifested) and is believed to tilt with the Sun’s movement — towards the north during Uttarayan and towards the south during Dakshinayan! 🌞🕉️

According to legends, this is the very land of King Sahasrabahu’s Mahishmati city, mentioned in Shiv Puran. The temple area also has four ancient kunds that never dry up, ancient ruins, and beautiful natural waterfalls that come alive during monsoon.

It’s said that Lord Shiva appeared here in the form of a Shivling under a Jaal tree, where a cow used to offer milk daily — a miracle witnessed by a local trader.

Even Mughal emperor Aurangzeb tried to destroy this temple, but a swarm of bees stopped his soldiers! The broken idol of Lord Vishnu lying on the Sheshnag still tells that story.
