The electric car (EV) is a relatively new concept in the world of the automotive industry. Although some companies have based their entire model of cars around being proactive and using electricity, some also offer hybrid vehicles that work off both electricity and gas. An electric car such as Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus Electric or Tesla Model S, Chevrolet Volt is a great way for you to not only save money, but also help contribute towards a healthy and stable environment.
Electric vehicles (EVs) have a battery instead of a gasoline tank, and an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine and thus produce no tailpipe emissions. If the electricity is generated from renewable energy sources like wind, it would be like ICING ON CAKE . EV’s get their power from rechargeable batteries installed inside the car.
Like electric vehicles, Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) have a battery and an electric motor. But as in gasoline vehicles, PHEVs also have a gasoline tank and an internal combustion engine. Some PHEVs operate exclusively, or almost exclusively, on electricity until the battery is nearly empty. Then gasoline is burned in the engine to provide additional power. Other PHEVs—sometimes called “blended mode” PHEVs—use both gasoline and electricity to power the vehicle while the battery is charged.
Considering the demand for oil will only be going up as the supplies run out, an electric car will most likely be the normal mode of transportation in the coming future…
The environmental impact of an electric car is zero, as well i.e. you’re reducing your carbon footprint and positively affecting the economy.
