🎓✨ Learning Architecture Through Observation, Analysis & Expression!
The School of Architecture & Design, Manipal University Jaipur successfully conducted an Expert Session & Workshop on “Study of the Architectural Development through History” on 11th April 2026 . Led by Ar. Pooja Agrawal (DRONAH), the session effectively combined theoretical insights with hands-on learning, encouraging students to engage deeply with architectural concepts.
Through a series of exercises, students explored temple terminology such as garbhagriha, mandapa, shikhara, and torana , while also analyzing significant case studies including the Kailashnath Temple and Hampi’s Virupaksha Temple, focusing on aspects like monolithic construction, integration with natural landscape, and thermal performance . Their work further extended to understanding Nagara and Dravidian temple typologies through plans, sections, and spatial hierarchies , along with creative interpretations of architectural elements such as multi-foil arches and ornamental details.
The students demonstrated strong analytical and visual skills, successfully translating historical knowledge into meaningful design insights. The session concluded with presentations and expert feedback, making it a truly enriching experiential learning experience.
