Toddlers come to the House of Children not only to learn skills, but also social etiquette through everyday experiences.
In a Montessori environment, they observe and imitate older children.
Through these small daily experiences, children gradually build patience, independence, responsibility, and social awareness.

Like many parents, I came across Montessori when my daughters went to an early education school which followed Montessori methodology. With my engineering background, I was fascinated by its scientific approach, leading to the start of a journey. While working with children between 3 to 6 years in different surroundings, my observations revealed how a Montessori adult can help the natural growth o
Aww Moment! β¨
In this activity, the child counts till the Cube of 8 β 512 β and places the arrows along the bead chain.
Knowing the ascending order so well, she discovered her own shortcut and placed only the smallest number first to continue the sequence independently. π±
This is where the observation of the guide becomes important. The end product is not the focus β the journey, the thinking, and the process are.
In a Montessori environment, life skills are not taught separately β they are woven into the childβs daily experience. Activities such as folding clothes, watering plants, cleaning spills, arranging materials, and serving food help children care for themselves and their environment independently.
These simple everyday tasks build concentration, coordination, responsibility, and confidence. When children participate in preparing and maintaining the environment, they develop a sense of belonging, respect for their surroundings, and pride in meaningful work.
Grateful to one of our parents who insisted on organising a BLS (Basic Life Support) session for the Anubhav community. What began as a small initiative soon felt too important to keep limited, so we opened it to everyone.
A heartfelt thank you to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for providing the required tools and sending their team to educate and guide us with such care and patience.
These sessions are truly life-saving. We never know when such knowledge may help us protect and support someone in need. We would strongly encourage all small communities, schools, and organisations to organise similar workshops.
Learning to respond in an emergency is not just a skill β it is a responsibility. πΏ

An aha moment β¨
This child had been struggling with an activity. Another child sat nearby, quietly observing β patiently watching the effort and the struggle for quite some time.
When the child finally asked the adult for help, the adult gently invited the observing child, βWould you like to help?β She agreed.
What followed was beautiful. She showed just enough. She stepped in only where needed. She supported without taking over.
Peer learning is deeply embedded in a Montessori space. In a mixed-age environment, children absorb not only materials but also empathy, timing, and restraint.
Almost magically, they seem to know when to help and how much to help β offering exactly what is needed, and no more. πΏ
