What if the battlefield of tomorrow is not just about defending borders, but also about ideas, innovation, leadership, and knowledge?

That was one of the thoughts I shared during my interaction with officers from MCTE, Mhow, representing five friendly nations: Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ethiopia, during their visit to IIM Indore.

I spoke about our close engagement with the Indian Army and our efforts to build deeper bridges between defence and management education. One such initiative is our Executive Doctoral Programme in Management and Governance, through which Army officers undertake doctoral research in areas at the intersection of management, governance, and defence.

It was a delight to exchange perspectives, share experiences, and explore how management institutions and armed forces can learn from one another.

As I told our visiting officers, I hope they return to their countries carrying wonderful memories of India, IIM Indore, and the warmth of our campus.

Knowing where you want to go changes everything; not just the destination, but the way you navigate the journey.

IIM Indore conducted the valedictory of the first batch of the Executive Programme in Business Analytics and AI for Managers, where I had the delight of reflecting with the participants on the opportunities and challenges that AI brings to a rapidly changing world.

I spoke about three things I believe will matter deeply in this journey: drive innovation with curiosity and humility, build a personal vision rather than simply following someone else’s destination, and remain adaptable by focusing on what is within our control.

I also reminded the cohort that AI must remain a tool guided by human vision, values, and judgement.

Many congratulations to the entire cohort. May you keep learning, stay curious, and have the courage to shape your own destination.

“What is important is: do you have the courage of conviction that even if you fail, even if you fall, even if you stumble, you continue walking towards the path that you have chosen for yourself?”

This was the question I asked during the valedictory ceremony of the graduates of the General Management Programme for Executives (GMPe - GCC) Batch-22 and Batch-23, and the Global Advanced Management Programme (GAMP) Batch-04 at IIM Indore.

I encouraged them to stay curious, remain humble, use their time wisely, be kind to themselves and others, adapt to what they cannot control, and never say never. When the road ahead feels difficult, look back at how far you have already come and draw strength from what you have already achieved.

It is wonderful to see our Executive Education family across the UAE and GCC continue to extend, grow and strengthen, bringing together professionals who believe in lifelong learning and meaningful connections.

The classroom may end. The learning never does.

Congratulations to all our graduates. The next chapter begins now.

भारत को ऐसे नेतृत्व की आवश्यकता है जो केवल वर्तमान को संचालित न करे, बल्कि उस भविष्य की कल्पना करे जो अभी अस्तित्व में नहीं है।

Compassion without weakness. Confidence without arrogance. Ambition without selfishness.

यदि हम अनुशासित, संवेदनशील और साहसी नागरिक चाहते हैं, तो नेतृत्व को पहले इन गुणों का उदाहरण प्रस्तुत करना होगा।

What we demonstrate, others learn. What we uphold, society follows.

श्रीकृष्ण हमें बताते हैं कि कर्म से बचना संभव नहीं, लेकिन अपने कर्म के प्रति दृष्टि अवश्य बदली जा सकती है।
