The Percy Jackson series talks about being raised by a single parent while having a strained relationship with the other and being forced to live with one's step siblings even if one scorns them. It talks about living in a broken home. Percy Jackson talked about a step-siblings young-adult gay romance, in a book for pre-teens and teenagers; BEFORE the topic caught the attention of mainstream media. It talked about being cheated upon by one's closest friends, and finding love and acceptance among the people you judged too early based on stereotypes. The son of darkness fell for the son of rainbows, who he thought was the cringiest human(uhm, demigod) alive. It is about breaking stereotypes, being something your father was not and not being something your father was. It talks about racial superiority, racism, and it talks about inclusion. It is about finding about your own identity, and making a mark in your area of specialisation. It proves infinite times, that somewhere, there's someone who needs you and is grateful for your existence.
Deemed problematic by the bigger and the older, Percy Jackson does not only entertain, but also educates the young.
BONUS- ISC students can memorise Greek and Roman references easily.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame - Official Trailer - UK Marvel | HD 10/12/2018

The Avengers are finally coming around for the fourth time. And now (having seen the marvelous trailer, pun intended) their journey has a name. And quite one that suits it, for that matter. For this is the 'endgame' indeed.
Unlike all the chaos inducing bombshells that were dropped in The Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel is definitely trying to keep everything under wraps with this spoiler free trailer that only builds up hype to the highest zenith without actually giving away anything at all!
Why is Tony adrift in space and recording messages for Piper (aww)? Are all the time travel theories really true? Will Nebula survive Endgame? Where is Thanos (we all hate this purple meanie's guts) and what does his empty suit as a scarecrow hint towards? Will getting stabbed by Thanos be the end for Cap? What on earth (or in any galaxy for that matter) was Hawkeye doing all this while, dressed up as Ronin? And why on earth does everyone have this gut feeling that it's Ant Man who's going to be saving the day? (Perhaps the fact that he was the first true Avenger? Hmm, we wonder… ) And wasn't he trapped in the Quantum Realm anyway? Is the Quantum Realm going to play the major role in Endgame?
And of course, the most important question - How will The Avengers bring back the fifty percent of the population that Thanos wiped out? Can it all be miraculously undone?
In the end, the trailers leaves us with more questions than answers. Following a technique in stark (pun intended) contrast to its previous trailers, Marvel has still managed to smugly ensure that every single person who's a fan of the MCU makes it to the theaters to find these answers in April.
Captain America was right as ever when he said "This is the fight of our lives."

When asked about literature, one can always argue that literature is of many kinds. It isn’t just big fat bound books with unimaginative olive green covers, but also various other kinds such as comic-books, poetry and manga. And our Literar-I member Sai Sushma would like to draw your attention to MANGA (in caps, for emphasis).

Manga is a very popular medium originally from Japan. They technically mean comics or cartooning. It includes works of a very large variety of genres ranging from fantasy, science-fiction, action, comedy, romance, school-life, detective, historical, drama, psychological, thriller and many more.

It is broadly divided into five categories
catering to the audience namely: Shounen (pre-teen to teen male audience), Shoujo (pre-teen to teen female audience), Seinen (Young Men), Josei (Young Women) and Doujinshi (Fan works). Manga is typically published in serial magazines as serials and episodes, and if it receives a decent response, the comics, are compiled and sold in volumes. If they cross expectations, then, the rights are usually bought by the anime industry to make anime.

Why all the hype over a bunch of black and white comics you ask?
Manga is not only great ideas put in dialogue, but it is also great ideas put in art. It is a medium that caters to both the literary and the artistic needs to achieve something aesthetic to the eye. Depending on mangaka to mangaka, manga brings characters to life, the panels become windows to glimpses of a moving story and the whole grey scale, heightens the effect. There are different art
forms in manga depending on the genre, the author and the audience aimed at, but what they all have in common is the ability to pull you into a different world, if only for a moment, to glimpse at something divine.

Books, can only take you so far as to getting into character’s heads and if it’s a really good writer, you can see glimpses of the world he created manifest in front of your eyes, but getting an idea of the setting, the mood in the air, the actions of several other characters happening simultaneously at the same time is difficult. Films, videos and others overcome that issue but get hindered because unless it’s a
really good movie with all the required elements, you cannot understand the characters’ inner motives until voiced out loud.

Manga here is a union of both the mediums with visual art and the voice of the characters. Most of the art is beautiful and striking; it grabs attention and holds us there.

It isn’t the perfect way to entertain an audience, but it is close.
Why not give manga a try next time?
