Celebrating Our Graduates: Soaring Toward New Horizons

This year, two of our research group members have successfully graduated and are now ready to take on the challenges of the real world. With wings of knowledge and determination, they are set to embark on exciting new journeys and achieve greater milestones.

Shrivastava, who completed his B.Tech., has been awarded the among all graduating students of the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, IIT Indore. He becomes the second member from our group to receive this prestigious : an achievement we take immense pride in.

Venkatesh, who completed his M.Tech., carried out his thesis project in collaboration with Dr. Ravindra Jangir at . He has now been selected to pursue his Ph.D. at the IISc Bangalore, one of the premier institutes in the country.

We are proud of their accomplishments and confident they will continue to shine in their future endeavors.
Hereโ€™s to continuing this legacy of excellence and inspiration in the years to come!

The UG students, Nitin Sathish Kumar and Jitin Sathish Kumar, worked in our group for their BTP. These twin brothers helped each other in all aspects of the work. Both were hardworking and committed to the project, always interacting with group members to clear any doubts and achieve good results in the experiments. The research scholars provided excellent guidance during the experiments and manuscript drafting process. In fact, their BTP presentation was so well-organized that hardly any questions were asked by the examiners or committee members. Their hard work paid off with a publication in the Chinese Journal of Physics.
Currently, both of them have joined the Ph.D. program at the University of Minnesota.

When your group perform well across the board, you can't help but feel proud, and we certainly do. We are especially proud of our research group of young friends. This time, Ajay Patil won the Best Poster Award at the International Union of Materials Research Societies โ€“ International Conference in Asia (IUMRS-ICA) 2024. What an incredible start to his first international conference! This could be a fantastic way to end 2024.

Santosh joined our group as M.Tech. student (2018) and subsequently registered for Ph.D. degree. He will be always remembered for his 7 years association (M.Tech + PhD) with our group.
He has been instrumental in the transformation of our lab from completely empty to overloaded. He has taken care for the installation of almost all equipments including XRD (Central facility).
Initially, he was known as very less talkative guy who followed his seniors. Later all new joiners (after him) started following him. He was trusted fellow of our groups. His thesis work is focused on understanding the role of metal oxide nanostructures for solar-driven energy applications. He received the best oral presentation award at the International Conference for Decarbonization of Energy and Materials held at NTU Singapore on Dec. 2023. He has published 05 research and 01 review articles in highly reputed SCI journals related to his Ph.D. thesis work. Moreover, 01 more research article is under revision for publication. He has also co-authored 17 research articles during his PhD.
Here we are presenting Santosh as Dr. Santosh Bimli. (6th PhD student from our group)

Special thanks to the thesis committee members Prof. P. M. Shirage, Prof. Amod Umarikar, Dr. Sunil Kumar, and Dr. Hemant Borkar, chairman of the open-defense Dr. Bhargav Vaidya and External examiner Prof. D. S. Rana (IISER Bhopal).

Sameena was first lady candidate to join our group as research scholar back in 2018. She was one to start work in our group on water remediation. Her thesis focused on โ€œFe-based perovskites compounds for water remediation including dye removal and desalination.โ€ She has developed perovskite compounds using cost-effective synthesis techniques, which were further utilized for applications in organic dye removal and interfacial solar steam generation (desalination). She has published 03 research articles, and 01 is under revision in SCI journals related to her Ph.D. thesis work. She has also co-authored 06 research articles during her PhD. So here we are presenting Sameena as Dr. Sameena Mulani
Special thanks to the thesis committee members Prof. P. M. Shirage, Prof. Amod Umarikar, and Dr. Sunil Kumar, chairman of the open-defense Prof. Tripti Jain, and External examiner Prof. Mohammed Aslam (IIT Bombay).
