Entrance test for MA Economics postponed

The entrance test of MA Economics 1st sem admission of MU Economics Department which was scheduled on 12th Aug has been postponed until normalcy returns in the University campus, according to statement issued by prof L Tombi Singh, HOD Economics.

The entrance test for admission to MA English 1st sem 2014 that was scheduled for 12th August has been postponed to 22nd August at same venue.

Admit cards are to be collected subject to verification on 19th and 20th during office hours. Original document is required for verification.

B.Ed Admission Notice 2014-2015

University Grants Commission (UGC) has requested higher education institutes to include history and the cultural heritage of Northeast in their courses.
A delegation of Northeastern students recently submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister demanding the inclusion of history and unique cultural heritage of Northeast India in the national curriculum.
A task for constituted by Human Resource Development ministry had earlier suggested the curriculum be modified to include in English literature stories from Northeast translated from different languages.
The team also recommended that the history of Northeast (pre-colonial, up to independence) should be taught at school, graduate and post graduate level.

Universities asked to include NE history in courses : Nagaland Post University Grants Commission (UGC) has requested higher education institutes to include history and the cultural heritage of Northeast in their courses.

ADMISSION THROUGH ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

The University will hold Entrance Examination on May 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2014 for admission to various full-time programmes of study at the following 51 cities : Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bareilly, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Dimapur, Gangtok, Guwahati, Goa, Gorakhpur, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Katihar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Pant Nagar, Patna, Pondicherry, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Secunderabad, Shillong, Shimla, Silchar, Siliguri, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

Offline Application :

Three Hundred only) drawn in favour of JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY payble at NEW DELHI alongwith a self addressed (unstamped) envelope of the minimum size of 30 cms x 25 cms. clearly indicating the programme of study for which the Application Form is required on the self-addressed envelope to the SECTION OFFICER (ADMISSIONS), Room No.28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 110067 .

Candidates seeking a set of Application Form and Prospectus from Nepal are required to send a Demand Draft of Rs.400/- or equivalent in US Dollars. Money Orders and Cheques are not accepted. Myanmarese Students, faculty on a 15-day Exposure Program


16 November 2013:Fifteen MBA students and two faculty members of the Monywa Institute of Economics, arrived in Imphal on Friday for a 15-day management training at the Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University from November 15 to 30. The first time any university in the north eastern region has conducted such exchange programme with foreign students.

The Myanmarese students and teachers were accorded a warm welcome by Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, Prof H Nandakumar Sharma in a function which was also attended by Registrar of MU, Prof N Lokendra Singh; Co-ordinator of International Affairs and Relations, MU, Dr L Jibon; Professor and Chief Co-ordinator of EDC Cell, MU, Dr Ch Ibohal Meitei and Deans of various departments.

Apprising the visiting Myanmarese students that six students from Surindra Rajabhat University, Thailand are presently pursuing PhD courses in Manipur University in different streams, the Vice-Chancellor said Manipur University is continuing to build a strong bond of relationship with Surindra Rajabhat University. Like this, Manipur University also wants strengthen its relationship with the Universities of Myanmar, he added.

Prof N Lokendra told the visiting students that Manipur University is among the 40 Central Universities in India established by the act of Parliament and is under the preview of the Department of Higher Education in the Union Human Resource Development Ministry.

“Manipur University being fully funded by the Centre has extremely low educational fees compared to other universities. The educational, accommodation, fooding, medical, sport, arts and culture facilities etc. are provided by the University and two seats are also reserved for Myanmar students in 17 departments in the School of Humanities and School of Social Science. The students will be fully exempted from tuition fees and they will be exempted from appearing in the admission test, Professor Lokendra said and appealed the team to take advantage of such opportunity provided by Manipur University especially for the Myanmar students.

Speaking to the media about the visit of the team from Myanmar for an educational exposure, Prof H Nandakumar stated that during the recent visit of the Chief Minister of Manipur to Monywa City of Sagaing Region of Myanmar in May 2013 to attend the ‘Regional Investment and Business Conclave’ held at Monywa, discussions were held between faculty members of Manipur University with the faculty members of Monywa Institute of Economics to promote co-operation in higher educational sector between Manipur and Sagaing State through exchange of students, faculty members between the institutes. The Consulate General of India, Mandalay plans to send a group of 17 members (15 MBA students and 2 faculty members) from the Monywa Institute of Economics for a two week study-training course at MIMS, Manipur University from November 15-30. As a follow up, Manipur University has agreed to provide two week exposure training to a batch of 15 MBA students from Monywa Institute of Economics at MIMS.

Besides academic sessions, the team will visit Loktak Lake; Sendra and INA Memorial, Moirang; Women’s Market; Shilheipung/Andro Shija Hospital and Research Institute; Babina Diagnostics and Thangjam Agro Industries. The team will also attend the Inaugural Program of Sangai Tourism Festival and International Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung.

Co-ordinator of the Educational Exposure Program, Dr Ch Ibohal stated the educational exposure will provide an opportunity to the students of Manipur University and Monywa Institute of Economics to have an interaction, share their ideas, knowledge and exchange their views among themselves.

Irom Sharmila Scholarship 2014, open to post-graduate student enrolled in Delhi

The Irom Sharmila Scholarship, set up in honour of Irom Sharmila's fight for constitutional values, is open to any post-graduate student enrolled in any educational institution in Delhi in any subject who comes from an area with internal armed conflict.

The award is based on a combination of financial need, academic merit, suffering under AFSPA or similar laws and both present and potential contribution to the democratic struggle against militarism.

The scholarship is a lump sum of Rs. 50,000.
