The 17th Prakriti International Documentary Film Festival will be held at the University of Jammu on February 23–24, 2026. Organised by CEC under UGC, it features documentaries on environment, development, and human rights to promote awareness and civic engagement, supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The University of Jammu is set to host the grand finale of the 17th Prakriti International Documentary Film Festival from February 23 to 24, 2026, bringing together award-winning films focusing on environment, development, and human rights.
Organised as an initiative of the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), New Delhi, the festival aims to promote awareness through documentary cinema and encourage dialogue on pressing global and social issues.
CEC, an inter-university centre under the University Grants Commission (UGC) dedicated to electronic media in higher education, continues to work towards developing and disseminating quality educational content through ICT platforms. The initiative seeks to expand access to knowledge and strengthen democratic learning practices across institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Pariksha Singh Manhas, Director of CEC, stated that the festival aligns with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which envisions a developed, inclusive, and self-reliant India by the centenary of Independence. She emphasised that meaningful education, environmental responsibility, and civic engagement are essential pillars in shaping socially conscious youth.
The organisers highlighted that platforms like the Prakriti Festival play a significant role in nurturing awareness among students and fostering participation in nation-building initiatives. The Vice-Chancellor and university fraternity were thanked for hosting the event and supporting academic and cultural engagement.
Since its establishment in 1993, CEC has contributed significantly to strengthening digital higher education through ICT-based initiatives, and the festival reflects its continued commitment to educational innovation and social responsibility.
The two-day festival will feature screenings of acclaimed documentaries along with discussions aimed at promoting environmental consciousness and human rights awareness among students and the wider public.
