A one-day training cm input distribution programme on “Scientific cultivation of leguminous vegetables” was organized by College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh at Runne village, East Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh on 20th August 2026. A total of 45 farmers participated in the programme comprising of 15 male and 30 female. Vegetable seed and farm tools were distributed during the training to encourage scientific vegetable cultivation.

A Training Programme on Production Technology of Late Kharif Vegetables was organized on 20th August 2026 at Khasipara Village by the College of Community Science, CAU-I, Tura, Meghalaya. The programme focused on scientific production practices, improved varieties, nutrient management, and integrated pest and disease management of late kharif vegetables.
During the programme, improved vegetable seeds from ICAR-IIVR, Varanasi, onion seeds from ICAR-DOGR, Pune, and vermicompost from CCS, CAU-I, Tura were distributed to farmers to promote improved and sustainable vegetable production.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Priyadarshani P. Mohapatra, Assistant Professor, along with Mr. Archan Rabha, Horticulture Assistant, under the guidance of Dr. Jyoti V. Vastrad, Dean, College of Community Science, CAU-I, Tura. The programme strengthened farmer–scientist interaction and encouraged farmers to adopt improved vegetable production technologies for enhanced productivity and income.

KVK East Garo Hills Conducts Skill Training on Value Addition of Pineapple
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), East Garo Hills, under Central Agricultural University (Imphal), successfully conducted a skill training programme on “Value Addition of Pineapple” for farmers and Self-Help Group (SHG) members from Rongjeng Block, Meghalaya, on 20 August 2026.
The training was conducted by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at its office, with technical guidance from the SMS, Food Processing Engineering, KVK East Garo Hills. The programme focused on imparting practical knowledge and skills on processing and value addition of pineapple to enhance its shelf life, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve income opportunities for farmers and SHG members.
A total of 16 farmers and SHG members (16 females) participated in the training programme.

Glimpses of the ongoing One Week FDP on “Artificial Intelligence Tools and Techniques for Teaching, Research, and Innovation” at the College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal, sponsored by the NITTTR, Chandigarh. Online sessions were taken on 18 & 19 Aug’26 by Dr.Ashok Kumar, NITTTR, Dr.Ujjwal Biswas, NIT, Manipur, Dr.Navanath Saharia, IIIT, Manipur, Dr.Laishram Jimmy, MTU, Manipur. Experts on the 3rd Day session included Dr.Jennil Thiyam, IIIT, Mnaipur, Dr.S.Saratchadnra Sharma, MTU, Manipur & Dr. Dr.Ujjwal Biswas, NIT, Manipur and Prof.Ng.Iboyaima Singh, Dean CoFT. The topic mainly focusses on the various AI tools and its applications in various fields, especially in Agriculture and allied Sciences. Around 53 officials from ICAR, KVKs, DEE, COA & CoFT attended the programme.

KVK East Garo Hills, in collaboration with the Soil & Water Conservation Division, Williamnagar, conducted a Farmers’ Seminar on “Impact of Jhum Cultivation on Environment” at Koksi Nengsat on 19 August 2026. A total of 29 farmers participated in the programme.
The seminar focused on creating awareness among farmers about the adverse environmental impacts of unsustainable jhum cultivation and emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable soil and water conservation practices. Farmers were sensitized on measures to minimize soil erosion, conserve soil moisture, maintain soil fertility, and protect the natural resources of the region.
