Sainik School lmphal is a residential English medium Public School for boys and girls, imparting Public School education with a military bias. The School was established on 07 Oct 1971. Apart from preparing the students academically, the school endeavours to develop character, team spirit, loyalty, esprit-de-corps and a high sense of discipline amongst students of the school. The school is also a

member of Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC). The Scheme of establishing Sainik Schools was introduced in 1961 by the Ministry of Defence. In the first year, five Sainik Schools were established. Since then several More were added bringing their total to twenty as on date. All the Schools are located in different states of the country. The Sainik Schools are managed by a Society which is registered under the Societies Registration Act ( XXI of 1960 )

In yet another historic milestone, Sainik School Imphal celebrated its 53rd Raising Day on 07 Oct 2024 (Monday) with great enthusiasm and gaiety. Many senior members from the ex-staff and alumni of the school including high ranking defence service officials also attended the function. The celebration commenced with Wreath Laying ceremony at the Martyrs’ Pillar by the officers, staff, ex-students and cadets of the school followed by Cake Cutting Ceremony at the school auditorium. On the occasion, variety entertainment programmes were displayed by the cadets thereby showcasing their innate talents to give a festive mood on the occasion. During the High Tea, the ex-students interacted with the cadets and imbued in them a sense of motivation and inspiration to become patriotic and responsible citizens of the nation. A friendly Basketball Match was also played between the staff and ex-students.
Lt Col Satish Kumar Singh, the school Principal in his address appreciated the retired staff, alumni and ex-students for their relentless efforts in bringing up the school to greater heights with their cooperation and assistance. He expressed his gratitude to all the members of Sainik School Imphal fraternity for making the school a pride of the region and to all present for making the celebration a grand success. The celebration culminated with a grand lunch in the Cadets’ Mess.
