Literacy just got a powerful upgrade with Learning Resource Center at HIS! I recently wrapped up an incredible series of 8 workshops on the Science of Reading with the HIS Group of Schools, right in the heart of the historic old city of Hyderabad — and what a journey it has been!
Teacher leaders from across HIS branches came together, engaged deeply, and left equipped with research-backed strategies to transform how literacy is taught in their classrooms. From the earliest readers to higher grade levels, every student stands to benefit from the ripple effect of this professional learning.
The energy, curiosity, and commitment these educators brought to each session was truly inspiring. They didn't just attend — they absorbed, questioned, and grew.
Here's to classrooms where every child learns to read, and every teacher has the tools to make it happen. The Science of Reading is not just a methodology — it's a movement, and HIS is now firmly a part of it.
Well done to every teacher leader who showed up and leaned in. The best is yet to come for students at all branches of HIS!

Transforming Reading Instruction!!!
Today I wrapped up an incredible 2-day intensive training on the Science of Reading with 60 passionate educators from schools across Raipur, and the energy was absolutely electric!
Over two power-packed days, teachers did a deep dive into evidence-based reading instruction, exploring how children learn to read and how teachers can support every student on their literacy journey.
This teacher training included-
Interactive Read-Alouds - Teachers experienced firsthand how to bring stories to life while building comprehension skills. From picture books to chapter books, I modelled techniques that captivate young minds and develop critical thinking.
Hands-On Activities - No passive learning here! Educators engaged in phonemic awareness games, practiced phonics instruction strategies, worked with decodable texts, and explored vocabulary-building techniques they can use immediately in their classrooms.
The Science Behind Reading - I helped the teachers to unpack the research on how the brain learns to read, covering the five pillars: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Collaborative Learning - Teachers worked in groups, shared strategies, and built a supportive community committed to literacy excellence.
The enthusiasm and commitment these 60 educators brought to every session was truly inspiring. They asked tough questions, shared classroom challenges, and left equipped with practical tools and fresh confidence to transform reading instruction.
This is just the beginning! These teachers are now equipped to create confident, capable readers who will thrive academically and beyond.
A huge thank you to all the participating schools and our dedicated teachers who invested their time and energy into becoming better reading instructors. A big thank you to Kalpana Chaudhary and the the very hospitable administration of Krishna Public School at Raipur!! Krishna Public School Raipur

Conducted an introductory session on the power of Read Aloud in for the 5th Batch of Teacher Training at Our School Avenue from the Learning Resource Center. The session will help the new teachers discover how reading aloud isn't just about words on a page—it's about: Building vocabulary & comprehension skills, sparking imagination & creativity, creating emotional connections with stories and developing lifelong readers. Teachers learned that it is important for teachers and students to READ FOR JOY, not just because they have to because when we read aloud with expression, enthusiasm, and love, we build memories. Reading aloud in their class, the teachers will not just be teaching literacy but opening doors to new worlds and planting seeds of curiosity that will grow for a lifetime for their students. I enjoyed sharing my expertise and reigniting the passion for this powerful teaching practice! because the greatest gift we as teachers can give our students is a love for reading that lasts forever.

Exciting news from Our School Avenue! Our 6-week chess afterschool activity at Our School Avenue with Ms. Zainab kicked off last week. This meeting happens twice weekly to introduce students to the timeless game of strategy. Through guided play and instruction, students develop critical thinking skills as they learn to analyse positions, anticipate opponents' moves, and plan several steps ahead. Ms. Zainab believes that chess teaches valuable problem-solving techniques that transfer directly to academic subjects and real-world challenges, helping young minds approach complex situations with confidence and logic. This afterschool activity gives our students a wonderful opportunity to grow both as a chess player and a strategic thinker!
