Bio Safety Level - 2 ( BSL - 2 ) Laboratory.

Biological Safety Levels (BSL) are a series of protections relegated to autoclave-related activities that take place in particular biological laboratory. They are individual safeguards designed to protect laboratory personnel, as well as the surrounding environment and community.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) prescribes BSL-2 as a way of specific controls for the containment of microbes and biological agents.

These lab levels are determined by :-

* Risks related to containment
* Severity of infection
* Transmissibility
* Nature of the work conducted
* Origin of the microbe
* Agent in question
* Route of exposure

This biosafety level covers laboratories that work with agents associated with human diseases ( pathogenic or infectious organisms) that pose a health hazard.

Shadan Group of Institutions under the supervision of its Managing Director Dr Mohammed Sarib Rasool khan in a bid to enhance the already existing world class Laboratory facilities in all their Hospitals as per the standards of the BSL-2 have upgraded and installed the CDC prescribed equipments.
