At the Microfluidics Lab, research moves across scales that quietly influence how we understand energy, healthcare, and complex fluid systems.
From studying heat transfer in supercritical fluids to advancing microfluidics of nematics and exploring human thermoregulation, the lab brings together interdisciplinary research backed by advanced facilities and collaborative expertise.
With specialised equipment including the SpLab02 Dual Syringe Pump, Euromex Polarizing Microscope, and Euromex Oxion Inverse Microscope, the lab continues to support meaningful scientific inquiry and research-led innovation.
The work is led by Dr Sebastian Uppapalli alongside collaborators Prof Bhaskar Tamma, Prof Jayasri D, Dr Prasad Pokkunuri, and a dedicated team of research scholars driving ongoing investigations in the field.

Janani Rangan, Mahindra University, shares her latest research published in the International Journal of Managerial Finance, an ABDC A-ranked journal.
Titled “Macroeconomic uncertainty and firm cash holdings: The role of ownership,” the study examines how firms respond to uncertain economic conditions by adjusting their cash reserves. It further highlights how ownership structures influence these decisions, offering insight into the way financial strategies are shaped during periods of volatility.
The research contributes to a deeper understanding of corporate behaviour in changing economic environments, with relevance for academia, policy discussions, and industry practice.
