MAHAPREIT- Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited, a Government of Maharashtra State PSU, signed an agreement with Steinbeis today, to set-up an Indo-German cluster for Green Hydrogen Technology and Equipment Manufacturing in the state of Maharashtra.

The project is partnered by Steinbeis India, Steinbeis Global Insitute Tübingen and supported by KNPP Indigo, Germany. Steinbeis is the world's largest innovation organisation headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, with over 1100 Technology Centres in Germany and 100 Centres in 20 other countries.

The objective of the agreement is to make Maharashtra a manufacturing hub for Green Hydrogen manufacturing equipment with the support of German counterpart industry through Mobility and Hydrogen Production Clusters of German industry. As a part of this initiative a test and demonstration center for Green Hydrogen Electrolysers will be set up which will enable industry to commercialise various technologies from across the globe. A Green Hydrogen Technology and Training Centre will also be set up to benefit the disadvantaged classes of the society - both in terms of employment and setting-up new enterprises in the new energy technologies. Apart from India, the German industry also stands to gain in terms of being able to diversify their manufacturing base and take advantage of the robust technology base and manpower in India.
