A glimpse into our fortnightly Speaking Club 🎤

Collaborative speaking is all about thinking together. Children brainstorm ideas, build on each other’s thoughts and then present their ideas to a group.

In a world of AI and information overload, having a point of view matters. So does learning to question, decipher the noise and make sense of what we consume.

Because finding your voice begins with learning how to think. đź’

Here’s how to build agility in children:

When things don’t go as planned or expected, encourage children to think of different possibilities and discover that there is more than one way to solve a problem.

Through everyday moments, we can help children to adapt & build flexible thinking, the foundation of agility. As they learn to adapt and look beyond Plan A, they become more confident and better equipped to face challenges.

At The Premia Academy, Agility is nurtured through the RAISE philosophy so that children build skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

When a child is emotionally dysregulated, their thinking brain isn’t fully available.

So before we ask them to explain what happened, solve the problem or use a calming strategy, we first need to help their body feel safe and calm.

This is where co-regulation matters.

For younger children especially, co-regulation can be very helpful. The adult remains calm and uses their own regulated presence to help the child gradually regulate.

Trying to introduce a new regulation skill when a child is already highly dysregulated can sometimes add to their stress. The child may not be in a state where they can process instructions or learn something new.

Hence, the best time to practise regulation skills is when the child is calm.

Practise breathing. Movement. Sensory tools. Taking a pause. Naming emotions.

Then, when the big feelings come, the adult can use these familiar tools alongside the child.

Over time, co-regulation becomes self-regulation.
Children learn to calm themselves through the many moments when we first helped them feel calm. ❤️

Our Social Emotional Leadership Programs are designed for children of ages 5 and above.

We personalise skill building for every child through small group settings, allowing for meaningful one-on-one attention.

Through stories, activities, role plays, art and movement and personal skill reports, children build the social and emotional skills they need to navigate everyday life with Confidence and Emotional Strength.

Comment your child’s age, and we’ll share the program details with you.

As the academic year settles into its rhythm, we facilitated Emotions: The Educators’ Compass at Cremon Montessori Life School.

The workshop created a space for educators to build the knowledge and tools to understand emotions, navigate triggers and respond with greater awareness.
Through the neuroscience of emotions and the brain, reflective practices, classroom case studies, and self-regulation strategies, educators explored emotional awareness and regulation in ways that can support both themselves and the children they lead.

Thank you to the educators at .montessori.life.school for showing up with curiosity and wholehearted engagement.
