GOOD NEWS.....
India is building world's first Thorium Reactor to be operational in early 2016. The proposed reactor will have a capacity to make 300MW. A great alternative to Nuclear Reactors.
Why its good news?

-Thorium is available 4 times more abundantly than Uranium in Earth and India have largest Thorium Reserves and hence will make electricity cheap.

-Thorium cannot be weaponised and turned into a bomb unlike Uranium and also Thorium dont release Plutonium as byproduct that can be turned into bomb too. Thats why its safe. Thorium, being safer will make it cheap too.

-The Thorium Reactors that will be made in India is designed to work itself and will require very less maintenance, only 1 person is required to check the reactors once every 3-4 months.

-Since there is hardly any chance of meltdown in Thorium Reactors and produce way less waste, it doesnt needs safe containment buildings, just normal structures will do.

-Thorium Reactors will produce 30% of total energy needs in India by 2050.

- India might be able to built world's first thorium-powered submarine & thorium-powered aircraft carrier with it in next decade.

Currently, many countries, together are working on harnessing the energy, that powers up the Sun or Stars i.e. FUSION, the cleanest energy. Its extremely hard to harness for now, but not impossible. India, by 2050 will have its own fusion reactor and it releases WATER as waste.
