முடிந்து போன செயலைக் குறிக்கும்
For an action which is completed in the past
Subjects:I /YOU /WE /THEY/HE/SHE/IT
FORMULA:V2 (PAST VERB) வந்தேன், போனேன், படுத்தேன், எழுந்தேன்.....
Examples:
1. I went to office yesterday
நான் நேற்று அலுவலகம் சென்றேன்
2. The flight arrived late
விமானம் தாமதமாக வந்தது
3. Rajiv Ghandhi died in 1991
ராஜிவ் காந்தி 1991-ல் இறந்தார்

Mostly you have to add ed with the verb for V2&V3

perfect tense
கடந்த கால முற்றுப் பெற்ற வினை
To indicate two past actions in which the first action will be denoted by this tense
கடந்காலத்தில் நடந்த இரண்டு செயல்களில், முதலில் நடைபெற்ற செயலை past perfect tense-இல் அமைக்க வேண்டும்.
Subjects: I/you /We /They /He /She /It
Formula: Had+V3
Key words: செயல்+இருந்தது
வந்திருந்தேன்/ போயிருந்தேன்/ அடைந்திருந்தது......
Past-இல் ஒரு செயல் மட்டுமே நடைபெற்றால் அதனை simple past tense-இல் அமைத்துவிடலாம். (V2/ செயல் மட்டும்/past verb)
Example:
1. When I went to bus stand, the bus had left
நான் பேருந்து நிலையம் சென்றபோது, பேருந்து முன்பே போயிருந்தது.
2. I went to medical shop at 11 pm but they had closed the shop at 10pm/ already.
நான் இரவு 11 மணிக்கு மருந்துக் கடைக்கு சென்றேன், ஆனால் அவர்கள் 10 மணிக்கே மூடியிருந்தார்கல்/ மூடியிருந்தது.
3. I had seen the picture
நான் அந்த படத்தைப் பார்த்திருந்தேன்
4. She had promised to marry my son
அவள் என் மகனை மணக்க வாக்களித்திருந்தாள்

சாதாரண நிகழ் காலம்
ஒழுங்காக, தவறாமல், வழக்கமாக நடைபெறுகிற செயல்களைக் குறிக்கும். இதனை நிகழ் காலம் என்று சொல்வதால் அந்தச் செயல் இப்போது நிகழவேண்டும் என்கிற அவசியம் இல்லை. ஒருவர் Routineன Regularறா செய்யும் செயலை present tenseல் அமைக்க வேண்டும்.
Formula:- subject+present verb/V1
Ex: come,go,eat, Walk sleep etc.....
Examples:-
1. நான் தினமும் 5 மணிக்கு எழுகிறேன்.
I get up/ wake up at 5 o clock everyday.
2.என் அம்மா தினமும் 7 மணிக்கு breakfast செய்வார்கள்.
My mother makes breakfast at 7 o clock in the morning.
Key words:- Every day/every month/etc....
Often/Rarely/Always.......
