Boot Camp on Critical Thinking
The Shri Ram Universal School, in collaboration with the Pravaha Foundation, conducted a one-day Boot Camp for selected students of Grades VIII and IX. The programme focused on developing critical thinking, inquiry, and research skills through an immersive, real-world learning experience.
The session centred on a simple yet powerful question: “What is the problem?” Using authentic footage from Grahan, a remote Himalayan village, students explored challenges related to accessibility, terrain, bridges, and mobility. Instead of jumping to solutions, they learnt to distinguish observations from assumptions, consider diverse stakeholder perspectives, and assess real-world constraints.
The boot camp encouraged students to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and recognise that understanding a problem deeply is the first step towards developing effective and sustainable solutions. The enriching experience strengthened essential skills in inquiry, analysis, and informed decision-making, while offering students a valuable opportunity to engage with complex real-world challenges.
