Importance of adding kalka dravya in the preparation of Kashaya Vasti

Right Beaker * Without Kalka dravya *
is a mixture of
Makshika ( Honey 50ml ), Lavana ( Salt 6 gm ), Sneha ( Tila taila 75 ml ) and Kashaya ( Dasamula 150ml ).
Left Beaker * With kalka dravya ( sarshapa kalka) is a combination of Makshika ( Honey 50ml ), Lavana ( Salt 6 gm ), Sneha ( Tila taila 75 ml ), Kalka dravya ( Sarshapa kalka 10gm ) and Kashaya ( Dasamula 150ml)
Observation: Without Kalka dravya Oil and water medium were forming very distinct and separate layers and couldn’t be mixed at all( Right Beaker).
Inference: Kalka dravya is essential for the formation of a Homogeneous mixture of Kashaya vasti kalpana. As Kalka dravyas mentioned for kashaya vasti kalpana acts as surfactant and have both hydrophilic and lypopilic ends.
Conclusion: Proves the scientific basis and rationale of the ingradients of kashaya vasti kalapana.
