We are pleased to reflect on the successful completion of CENEX 2026 – the Three-Day International Conference on “Correctional Reforms: Novel Vistas”, organized by the Centre for Excellence in Criminal Law, ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration (APCA), Vellore.

The conference commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony on 1st April 2026 at IBS Auditorium, setting the tone for three days of meaningful academic exchange and dialogue on reformative justice.

The inaugural session began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) Y. Pratap Reddy, Dean, ICFAI Law School. The session featured insightful remarks by Prof. (Dr.) P. Ravisekhararaju, Director, and a comprehensive introduction to the conference theme by Dr. K. S. Rekhraj Jain, Conference Coordinator.

The inaugural address by Dr. Soumya Mishra highlighted the evolving landscape of correctional reforms, emphasizing a shift towards humane, rehabilitative, and technology-enabled approaches within the criminal justice system.

The inaugural session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Anwesha Panigrahi, Assistant Professor, ICFAI Law School.

Over the course of three days, CENEX 2026 brought together academicians, practitioners, and researchers from across the globe, fostering rich discussions on transformative jurisprudence, correctional mechanisms, gender perspectives in corrections, and innovative approaches to rehabilitation.

The conference concluded on a high note, leaving behind valuable insights and collaborative pathways for strengthening correctional systems and advancing reform-oriented justice.

We are pleased to share the successful conduct of a Legal Awareness Program on the Right Against Exploitation, organized by the Legal Aid Society, ICFAI Law School (ILS) in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Medak District and Naari Mani Collective, an NGO committed to the welfare of women and girl children.

The program was held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Jhansi Lingapur Village, Ramayampet Mandal, Medak District, with the objective of spreading awareness about the constitutional safeguards and legal protections available against exploitation, particularly for vulnerable sections of society.

Through interactive sessions, community engagement, and awareness activities, the program highlighted the importance of legal literacy and empowered participants with knowledge about their rights and available legal remedies. The initiative witnessed active participation from villagers, women, and youth, reflecting the growing need for grassroots legal awareness.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Medak District and Naari Mani Collective for their valuable collaboration and continued support in promoting access to justice and community empowerment.

Special thanks to all the volunteers and students of the Legal Aid Society whose dedication made this outreach initiative impactful and meaningful.

Industry Visit to MRF Limited – Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration

Under the leadership of Dr. Sadanand, a successful industry visit was conducted on 15 April 2026 to MRF Limited, Ankenpally Plant, Sadasivapet Mandal, Sangareddy, Telangana. The visit provided valuable exposure to the corporate functioning and legal ecosystem within a leading manufacturing organization.

During the visit, we had the privilege of meeting Mr. Narendra Bhale, Senior Human Resource Manager, and engaging in an in-depth discussion regarding placement and internship opportunities for students of ICFAI Law School at MRF Tyres. The interaction focused on identifying pathways for students to gain practical exposure in corporate legal environments and understanding industry expectations.

We are pleased to share that Mr. Bhale expressed his support for establishing a long-term collaboration with our Law School, aimed at creating sustained opportunities for student internships, placements, and professional engagement.

A team from ICFAI Law School participated in the National Moot Court Competition 2026, organized by the Department of Law at Central University of Karnataka, held offline on 11th April 2026 in Kalaburagi.

Competing against 14 teams, including several National Law Universities, the team demonstrated exceptional advocacy skills in a challenging moot problem covering Criminal Law, AI Law, Clinical Trials, IT Act, and Cyber Law.

✨ Runner-Up – Awarded trophy, individual silver medals, merit certificates, and a cash prize of ₹20,000
✨ Best Memorial Award – Secured top score, along with merit certificates and a cash prize of ₹5,000

The competition rounds were adjudicated by esteemed members of the judiciary and legal fraternity, including Hon’ble Justice T.N. Inavally and Hon’ble Justice P. Krishna Bhat, among others.

ICFAI Law School is proud to share that Dr. Sadanand Anantrao Karhale, Assistant Professor, was invited to deliver the Inaugural Address for the Certificate Course in Cyber Law and Cyber Security at Swatantra Senani Ramrao Awargoankar Law College, Beed (Maharashtra) on 8 April 2026 (online mode).

The session offered valuable insights into the evolving landscape of cyber law, highlighting the increasing relevance of digital interactions in today’s world. It thoughtfully examined the intersection of traditional legal principles and emerging technologies in regulating cyberspace.

The lecture concluded with an engaging and interactive discussion, where students actively explored emerging challenges and contemporary trends in cybercrime, making the session both insightful and impactful.

It was a privilege for Dr. Sadanand Karhale to serve as a Judge for the Moot Court Competition organized by Late Adv. Ku. Shalaka Santosh Khandage Law College, Pune, held on 2nd April 2026 in online mode.

The competition provided an enriching platform to engage with complex and contemporary legal issues, particularly in the domain of forensic science and digital evidence. The moot proposition thoughtfully explored aspects such as mobile phone records, dating applications, and DNA analysis—areas that are increasingly significant in today’s legal landscape.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from teams across India, including National Law Schools and other premier law institutions, showcasing a commendable standard of legal research, analytical ability, and advocacy skills.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Justice Shriram Madhusudan Modak, Judge of the Bombay High Court, adding immense value and prestige to the occasion.

Notably, the moot proposition was inspired by the Shraddha Walker case, featuring hypothetical characters Saanvi Mehta and Ayaan Farooq, which added a realistic and engaging dimension to the legal problem.

Such platforms continue to play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of legal professionals by bridging theory with practice.
