Visit to Darus Suffah Old Age Home

On the National Day of Older Persons, our students visited Darus Suffah Old Age Home, Masab Tank, to honor the elderly with compassion and respect, as taught in Islam: “He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young ones and respect to our elders” (Tirmidhi). They shared moments of joy and listened to the heartfelt stories of the residents, many of whom face loneliness despite their lifelong sacrifices for their children. This moving experience reminded the students of the Qur’anic command: “Be kind to parents... address them in terms of honor” (Qur’an, 17:23), and the hadith: “The pleasure of Allah is in the pleasure of the parents” (Tirmidhi). The visit deepened their commitment to embody ihsan and rahma, fulfilling the Islamic duty to cherish and care for our elders.
