మొన్కొంబు సాంబశివన్ స్వామినాథన్ (1925 ఆగస్టు 7 - 2023 సెప్టెంబరు 28) భారత వ్యవసాయ శాస్త్రవేత్త, జన్యుశాస్త్ర నిపుణుడు. అతనిని భారతదేశంలో "హరిత విప్లవ పితామహుడు" గా పేర్కొంటారు. అతను "ఎం.ఎస్.స్వామినాథన్ రీసెర్చ్ ఫౌండేషన్" ను స్థాపించి దాని చైర్మన్ గా వ్యవహరిస్తున్నాడు.[1] అతను ప్రపంచంలో ఆకలి, పేదరికం తగ్గించడంపై అతను ప్రధానంగా దృష్టి పెట్టాడు.[2] అలాగే ఇతర దేశాలకు చెందిన ఎన్నో మేలైన వరి రకాలను మన దేశంలోకి ప్రవేశపెట్టి, వాటి నుండి కొత్త వరి రకాలను ఉత్పత్తి చేశాడు.[3] వరి, గోధుమ మొదలైన పంటలపై ఈయన జరిపిన విశేష కృషి వలన భారతదేశంలో ఆహారధాన్యాల ఉత్పత్తి గణనీయంగా పెరిగి హరిత విప్లవాన్ని సాధించింది. స్వామినాథన్ ఎన్నో గొప్ప పదవులను సమర్ధవంతంగా నిర్వహించాడు.
