As children move closer to the second plane of development (around the age of 6), their learning begins to stretch beyond the classroom walls. The world becomes their curriculum, and every interaction—whether reading a signboard, calculating change, or thanking a kind store staff member—becomes part of a larger understanding of how society works.

Change starts young. While older children represent at global forums like the Montessori Model United Nations, our five-year-olds back home in Hyderabad are engaging with issues rooted in their own backyard. Over the past few weeks, they’ve been in heartfelt conversations about the razing of trees at Kancha Gachibowli—thinking, wondering, and imagining ways to make a difference. Here’s a quiet glimpse into their powerful work behind the scenes.

Behind the speeches and formal sessions, there’s laughter in the hallways, last-minute edits to resolutions, and friendships being built. Attendees at the Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) conference are learning how to collaborate, speak up, and listen — not just as delegates, but as people who care. MMUN gives them a space to grow, connect, and realize that change starts in moments like these. They don't go to MMUN to win best speaker. They go there to change the world.

What brings Anthea back to Montessori Model United Nations year after year? It’s more than the excitement of the conference — it’s the chance to build real connections across cultures, to collaborate on global challenges, and to know ideas matter. 🌐✨

On day 1 of the conference alone, we overheard children talking about budget transparency, equitability and equality, false sustainability and so much more. From speaking with UN ambassadors to crafting proposals that are heard at the FAO World Food Program headquarters or the UN General Assembly, attendees at these conferences are not just simulating change — they're a part of it. And that’s the magic of the program.

End of year shows with Springup begin with parents walking through a display of their children's work. As they move from one level to the other, children build on increasingly complex social-emotional skills. Take a look!
