Non-Life Insurance Growth Slows in August 2025
India’s non-life insurance sector grew just 1.6% YoY in August 2025, much lower than last year’s 4.2%.
Key reasons:
• Regulatory changes (1/n rule)
• Expectations of a GST cut delaying purchases
• Drop in crop & motor insurance
Positive side:
• Fire & engineering segments show strength
• Health insurance (esp. govt. schemes) remains resilient
This slowdown highlights the need for product innovation, balanced regulation, and affordability to boost demand.

Non-life insurance growth slows; GST cuts expected to drive future demand
Non-life Insurance Growth: India's non-life insurance sector experiences a 1.6% growth in August 2025, hindered by regulatory changes, declining crop insurance, and a muted vehicle market. Future GST cuts are anticipated to revitalize demand in the sector.
