As you are aware that ICAI Elections for Central Council & Regional Councils are scheduled on 03rd and 04th December 2021 and therefore, we feel it appropriate to share with you information on Preferential voting system being followed by our esteemed Institute. In other words, it’s called a Preferential Voting System under a system of physical voting on a Ballot Paper.
Please take a note that, each Voter (a member of the ICAI irrespective of whether he holds Certificate of Practice ‘COP’ or Works in Industry or in Business) can vote for Central Council as well as Regional Council Elections.
Our elections are held on the single ‘transferable vote’ system under which the voter has to indicate his preferences about the candidates by inserting the figures 1, 2, 3 etc. against the names of the candidates according to his preference.
POINTS TO PONDER- FIRST TIME VOTERS
1. The elections will be held offline.
2. Regional Council (RCM) and central council (CCM) elections would be held on same date.
3. You have to vote separately for both RCM and CCM.
4. The elections would be held on 3rd and 4th December (for 2 days) at specified places and on 3rd December (for 1 day) at other places.
5. Ours is a preferential voting.. you have to mark 1 against most preferred candidate (in the check box given against the name), 2 to next preferred, 3 to next...and so on.
6. You can mark as many preferences as you want to mark.
7. Remember Sr.. No. on ballot paper to easily find your preferred candidate.
8. Only numeric 1,2,3....to be used while marking preferences.
9. One preferences should not be repeated.
10. 1st preference is mandatory.
